I've been working towards getting my permit and have some questions about the paperwork involved. I retrieved what I thought to be a complete list of all requirements from fauquier county's website, but have been a little confused by it's seeming contradiction with the state police website.
Fauquier requested and I provided: three copies on my firearms competence, the notarized application with two additional copies, a fingerprint card, and $50 check for the clerk. No photographs were requested on the website and none were sent. The site requested bringing an "operators license" to fingerprinting and to the court. However it says I can mail everything.
I'm confused. Am I going to need to send them pictures or appear in person to take one?
Can I just mail everything?

Only a renewal can be done by mail, and that doesn't go into effect until July 1.
You should call either the clerks office or the police department and ask about the other requirements. Some cities go out of their way to make this process more difficult than it should be.

Actually, that's not correct.OakRidgeStars wrote:Only a renewal can be done by mail, and that doesn't go into effect until July 1.
Once you have everything, you can mail it to the clerk's office. No requirement to appear in person.
Also, Code requires "a copy of your training", not multiple copies.
