Do we have to re-register? My username/PW do not seem to work.

I will have to work on seeing if I can integrate... good thought. I'll check into it.

The text in the VGOF "sticker" is not easy to read. Maybe some text to the right of that to define what VGOF stands for.
I like the layout and the idea.

I'd recommend a consistent coloring scheme - copy the CSS elements as needed. You should be able to do a database dump from one to the other for a snapshot of user accounts, but the better thing would be to mod the code and do an auth using this database, IMO.
Good luck and thanks!

I just installed last night and will work toward consistent look and feel over the next few days. I'm worrying more about functionality and content for the moment.Mindflayer wrote:I'd recommend a consistent coloring scheme - copy the CSS elements as needed. Unfortunately, the database dump idea isn't exactly straight forward, and neither will be the code required to provide cross-registration between the two sites, as there isn't currently a pre-written plug-in to start with. However, that is the end goal.
I'll post up as I get these issues worked out.
Thanks for the feedback!

I'm just browsing the site as a guest, but I can see a registered user's date of birth just by clicking on the screen name in the Shoutbox.
You might want to restrict that from viewing once the site is all official-like.

Linking the registrations between sites might be a little tricky.... you will have to pull the info from the users table in this database to authenticate over there. Being that it is 2 totally different packages it could be problematic.
I have coded many phpbb forums mods and PHPNuke modules/blocks over the years, and it is easy to pull the data within the said package, but when you start mixing, you create headaches. Notice I say it could be.... you might get lucky though and have the tables somewhat match between systems.
I have never messed with the PHP-Fusion package though, but hey, PHP is PHP...

All currently active VaGunForum members are now registered at VGOF.org. Passwords are hashed differently between the sites, so you'll need to reset your password by visiting the following link:
http://vgof.org/lostpassword.php
- Enter your email (as registered here at VaGunForum) and click Submit.
- You'll receive an email with a link - click the link
- A new password will be sent to you in a second email
- Login with the new password password and edit your profile to change your password to something you'll remember
So everyone go reset your password and get your new profile fixed up. Welcome to VGOF.org!!!

Birthdays were in a different format between the databases as well, so they didn't transfer over from the forum and all user birthdays start out blank at VGOF.org. Users have the option whether or not to display their birthday. If you don't want it there, just don't enter it in your profile.OakRidgeStars wrote:I'm just browsing the site as a guest, but I can see a registered user's date of birth just by clicking on the screen name in the Shoutbox.

Re: VGOF.org - Check it out!
By the way - NEW registrations at VGOF.org are still disabled until I have some time to work out the cross-registration thing.
Unkn0wn - the databases have some similarities - I think it's do-able...just will take some time to sort out (and hopefully not break anything in the process). *backup - backup - backup!!*

That's great then. I never messed with PHP-Fusion, so I wasn't sure about that one.allingeneral wrote:Unkn0wn - the databases have some similarities - I think it's do-able...just will take some time to sort out (and hopefully not break anything in the process). *backup - backup - backup!!*
