OCing in Walmart April 10th 2009 Staunton

I Posted this on Defensive Carry dot com on April 10 sorry it took so long to get here.

Ok this has never happened to me (in a Walmart any ways)

I was walking around the craft section with wife and daughter when all of a sudden these two stuffed animals come flying over the shelves and one hits me the other has a recording box in it hits my daughter in the head. She is only 9 and she starts to cry (it hurt).

I flew out of the isle and tracked the laughing teenagers a few isles and land into them but good. Telling them that the store is not a playground and that if they have a desire to play to do it else where. then the Store mgr shows up.

He sees I am carring and pulls me aside to find out if I am a LEO and I told him no just law abiding citizen excersizing my rights as a free American authorized by the Constitution and he smiles. Then he wants to know what is the problem I told him and the store mgr makes them appologise to me and my daughter.

He then gets on the intercom and asks for their parents to meet us in electronics. The kids tell him that they were dropped off by their parrents and won't be back to pick them up for at least two hours.

Mgr asks them to call parents on their cell phone and he tells parents to come and get their kids and that they are not allowed in the store alone again.

Mgr pulls me aside and thanks me for OCing in his store and that they were tracking two thuggish looking kids, and when they saw me they quickly exited the store.

He also told me how glad he was that I kept my cool and wishes more people would OC.

I thanked him payed, for our stuff and left feeling good I made a good choice to OC.

Good story SnakeEater. I always expect to get to the par tin stories like this where the manager says "OMG you have a gun" and flips out. This one clearly didn't end that way and has a happy ending instead.

Yeah I figured it was going to go south as soon as he pulled me aside and asked if I was a LEO. Supprise!!!! Good Deal.

That is great. I would assume that WalMart has a favorable policy towards OCing and Concealing given that they
sell guns and likely don't want to piss off a customer base. Not to mention all the extras bought by such folks
in the Hunting, Fishing, etc section of the store.

I would venture to guess that WalMart says "Profit First, Politics Second". lol

good story with a happy ending

i almost always OC when i go to walmart and never once have i had a problem. the only problem i might expect to have, as i have seen and heard of it happening before, is trouble buying ammo while OC. some of the clerks get freaked out and wont sell the ammo or try to tell you that the manager must walk you out. havent had that problem yet as i can find any ammo

That reminds me of a time I bought a shotgun at walmart. I bought it and they had to walk me out of the store. thought it was pretty ironic since I was carrying a loaded firearm and the shotgun i bought was not.

That has always amazed me about Walmart. Some years ago I bought a Winchester 70 in .30-06 and a box of .22 lr from them and I was walked to my car because I had a gun and ammo.

yeah that is actually a corporate policy that seems pretty funny to me.
I believe it was response to a shooting that took place after someone bought a rifle then proceded to rob them but not sure

i have even seen them go as far to tell someone that once they bought the rifle they would have to go put it in their car before they could buy the ammo for it
