Just received a P-11 from an Uncle. Never been fired, only taken out of box to look it. Any info on this weapon, good or bad? Has a real short grip on this thing, don't feel right in my hand.
Also gave me a Taurus 66 .357 bought back in 1993. this thing has had about 5k of .38special put down range. Looks like a work horse, I see this model is still made, just has a 7 shot now instead of the 6. Looking forward to shooting this piece.
This is two of the four guns he gave me on Sunday, said he was cleaning out the closet and no longer was shooting these. I knew he was giving me some ammo .38special, but this was a surprise.

Since .38Special is a little bit shorter than .357Mag, lead .38 special bullets tend to shave in a .357Mag. If you shoot a bunch of them this builds up and can cause an issue when changing over to .357Mag as it can pinch the cartridge and lead to high pressures. All you have to do is make sure you scrub out that cylinder really well. Make sure they is no lead build-up around the "ring" when you look down the cylinder.

Thanks,, just the cylinder and not the barrel? I will check it out good before I take it for a test run.gunderwood wrote:Since .38Special is a little bit shorter than .357Mag, lead .38 special bullets tend to shave in a .357Mag. I also shoot a 2" barrel .357, 3 to 1 on .38 and .357. But I also clean it after each outing.

Cleaning led fouling is a pain. If he gave you plain lead bullets, sell the lead rounds and get some FMJs. 130 grain loads are nice for practice if you're not used to shooting, 158s are best otherwise.
Tauruses aren't top quality, but if you get one you know works, they're fine.

i have a p11 and its probably the funnest gun to shoot that i have. i carry it with me, its small, lightweight, recoil isnt bad and its really a simple design. only issue that i have had and over on hte keltec forums, others seem to have had, is the aim of the p11. i really had to adjust my sights ALOT to get it to reasonable accuracy.

I have a Kel-Tec P11. It is a great liitle gun. I carry mine in the summer primarily. There is a Kel-tec gun owners site I would recommend
http://www.ktog.org/
I think you find some of the info very helpful. I know I did. It will be one to hold on to for sure.

I would rather carry a gun every day and never need it. Then not have one when needed
