Hello everyone,
This is Brian writing to you from north of Charlottesville Va. I look forward to being part of this website. I came across the site on Facebook and followed the link to this website. It seems we will have lots to talk about in the future as we battle to keep our constitutional rights upheld. The next 4-8 years will be a very long uphill battle. Be sure to write the people in DC regularly voicing your concerns and opinions.
They say that information is power. I look forward to sharing ideas and information that will make us all better aware of todays changing society. With drug use on the increase and the formation of gangs in the smallest of towns, we need to be ready for the associated increase in violence. Take into account the weak economy, and we should be prepared for an increase in home burgerlies (we already have seen an increase in the Charlottesville area), home invasions, muggings and other violent crimes typically seen in communities that are battling these issues.
Unfortuneately Law inforcement wants to ignore the gang problem here just as they have in other area of the US until it becomes to late to be proactive. WE should "nip the problem in the bud" instead of waiting until the problem is to large to control. Everyone knows that once a gang gets established in an area, it's very hard to shut them down completely. Laws exist to combat many of these problems but unfortuneatly the government want to target us, law abiding gun owners, in an attempt to solve the problems caused by the gangs and other people from which we need protection from. I am sure people from England and Austraila will tell that things will only worsen if guns are banned.
I see several people from the Norfolk area that are members. To anyone on active duty in the armed forces, I would like to say thank you for your service to our country. I am a former Submariner who spent 8-1/2 years in the Navy. I left the Navy in 1992 and went to work in the civilian nuclear industry until medically disqualified Dec 2004. Much has changed in the military since I got out including the length of oversea tours. I wish all you on active duty the best from the bottom of my heart. Our country wouldn't be what it is without your service.
God Bless Everyone
Brian

Hi Brian. Welcome aboard, Shipmate!
You bring up a lot of good points in your introduction. It sounds like you have put a decent amount of thought into these issues. It's good to have you here. Please feel free to chime in anywhere.
I spent 10 years in the Navy myself. I was a surface type though, not a bubblehead. Either way, it's always nice to have a fellow Squid onboard.
