VA-ALERT: Senate Restaurant Ban Repeal PASSES HOUSE!

Post by OakRidgeStars »

We're almost there guys!... Don't give up the fight just yet!

---

----------------------------------------------------------------------
VCDL's meeting schedule: http://www.vcdl.org/meetings.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Abbreviations used in VA-ALERT: http://www.vcdl.org/help/abbr.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------

YES!!!!! A clean sweep!

SB 334, Senator Hanger's restaurant ban repeal has PASSED the House
UNCHANGED by 72 to 27! (Delegate Morrissey wasted everyone's time on
the floor asking inane questions about the bill until they got fed up).

SB 408, Senator Vogel's bill to allow non-CHP holders to have a loaded
handgun in a locked container or compartment in their motor vehicle or
boat PASSED UNCHANGED by 74 to 25!

SB 3, Senator Smith's bill to allow CHP holders to renew their permit
through the mail passed UNCHANGED by 81 to 18!

I will list the votes of the House members on SB 334 in a future alert.

The above bills will now need to be signed by the Speaker of the House
and the Lt. Governor and then they will head to Governor McDonnell's
desk for signing. That could take up to a week or so.

We are standing at the edge of the end zone, football in hand, with
the nearest opponent 100 yards behind us. All that needs happen now
is for the football to break the plane of end zone...

Yep.... just like those daily shootouts you hear about in the 40 or so other states that currently allow concealed carry in restaurants

Wow, awesome. But anyone notice that the language in the new law allows cops to drink alcohol in restaurants while carrying?

That part is funny. Although I've got a feeling its a loophole for law enforcement officers who are undercover.

I dont think so. I think the general feeling among our lawmakers is that LE is special like them and above us regular folk. LE, especially those retired should be extended some special privileges but I dont agree with this one. What this tells me is our lawmakers trust LEOs to carry responsibly but not the regular citizen. Sure there are some among us who are not responsible but I bet if you could pinpoint percentages of responsible/irresponsible for regular citizens and LE it would be a similar ratio.

With that, I think there should be a blanket ban on drinking while carrying - for everyone...if they are going to make it only for undercover operatives they should state so.
