Sig Sauer P226 Blackwater Tactical

Post by BlueTiki »

Went to the range tonight and shot the P226 and was amazed at this gun. Went back out and talked to the guy at the counter and was told that they didn't have the standard P226 in stock but that they had the Blackwater Tactical in. Of course I had to ask about it. So the guy proceeds to pull it out of the case and hands it to me. After I managed to wipe all the drool off it and handed it back I had made up my mind that I need to have this gun.

THAT IS WHEN I SAW THE PRICE TAG!!!!

So I'm putting out this request to all of you. If any one knows any body that might be needing to part with one or a dealer that they trust. Let me know so I can look into it.

I'll tell you that the range had it listed at $1199.00. If you find better please let me know.

I hear ya on the 226. IMHO, You can always find a better price than at BRA, though that model will bring top dollar. I know exactly how you feel, I'm a little partial to Sigs myself. I picked up a used 226 9mm at the Dulles show last year, for $400. Shoots great, and fits my hand very well. Best suggestion is to hit the next show and see what they have. You might also contact this dealer, his prices have been very good, and he's a great guy to work with. I bought my XDm and my RRA AR15 upper from him.

I could be wrong, but I think that the 9mm 226 does not accept the .40 and .357Sig barrels...if you're looking to stay with the .40 cal.

I was going to recommend the 25th anniversary commemorative as an alternate choice, but I see it only comes in 9mm as well.

From their FAQ:
Unfortunately our pistols (with the exception of the P250 and the .22LR Classic Series) cannot be converted to or from 9mm. Changing between .357SiG and .40SW is easily completed in most cases with just a barrel change(239-357/40 also requires a magazine change).

Thanks, I thought I had read that somewhere. It only becomes an issue if one wishes to stay within the confines of a single caliber (personally, I like variety  ).

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm going to have to really look around on this one. Thing is, I'm really looking for one that is made in 2009 or 2010. There are a couple of differences on those models that make them more desirable than its earlier models.

The Mag count is only 4 instead of 5 with the older models but the 4 mag's have a 20 round capacity.
The Dove Tail on the newer model is extended. ( better for keeping your hand up high for better control from recoil)
The sites are more pronounced with night sights and fiber. (bright green)
The newer model comes with SRT trigger. (Short Reset Trigger)

I will be looking for a while I'm sure. I will look at the gun shows for sure too.
If anyone sees this let me know.

Thanks again all.

Were you thinking of The Armory?

Not sure how their prices stack up, seem pretty decent. Their shop is right up the street from me, they're good guys

Do the additional features on the "Black-water Edition" justify the jump in price?

If you were to buy the added parts and add them to a stock 226 I do believe you would find the added price would be closer to 1500.00 when all is said and done.

Keep in mind though, I'm not a gun smith and have never claimed to be so I'd be very hesitant to pull my brand new gun apart to add in a new trigger and such. Given the proper instructions, I'm sure I could do it. Just not sure I really want to.

If anyone else has opinions on doing such, I'm always open to suggestions. God knows I'm not finding this gun right now anyways. They have stopped producing them and most dealers are not getting them in.

That is it Grumpy. Now I need to see how the finance officer will handle it. :hysterical:

Only real issue is that I've just had to put my son's car in the shop for some work. The head needs to be replaced. Don't ask on what the car or my son. Because I might just have to answer that. Once I know better how bad that is going to hurt me I might just have to move on that.

Well I finally did it. I found this http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... s_id/57606 and ordered it last night. I look forward to playing with this one.

For those of you that don't know of Bud's Guns. This is the home page. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php
They have some real good deals on all sorts of things. Even used guns.

I'll give my impressions of this as soon as I get it and take it to the range.

Congratulations on your new pistol. I hope you really enjoy shooting it, I know I love how both my P220 and P228 shoot. I am sure you will be suprised at how accurate it shoots once you have had a little practice with it. Post some pics when you get the new acquisition to the house. :gunporn:

Was the shop either superior pawn or the Armory?

I picked up one of the last-generation BW P226-9's. VERY nice shooter, particularly after I had Sig replace the SRT with a standard trigger @ about 4lbs. My big hands and the short reset didn't work well together. I like it A LOT and picked up a bunch of 20-rd MecGar mags but am undecided whether to keep it or trade it on a Wilson 9mm 1911. Decisions, decisions...

Congrats. I keep pondering doing a P220/226 Combat/Elite Threaded barrel or a H&K USP Tactical or 1911 TB, etc. for a suppressor project. Getting around 20 rounds of 9mm is awesome, but I much prefer subsonic .45 to subsonic 9mm. Decisions, decisions.
