Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on this year's anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

"The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism," Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

"If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles," he added.

Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.

The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.

Iranians are expected to pour into the streets on February 11 to celebrate the occasion in public rallies across the country, as they have done annually over the past three decades.

---In an address to air force leaders, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said: “The Iranian nation, with its unity and God’s grace, will punch the arrogance [Western powers] on the 22nd of Bahman [February 11] in a way that will leave them stunned.”

---On Sunday (7 Feb), President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad enraged the West when he told his nuclear scientists to make higher grade uranium.

Thursday (11 Feb) is also the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and its possible we may see a new crackdown against the government's opposition. Iran has frequently tried to call repressive actions against its own people as actions against the West.

Well, having thought this through I'm fairly convinced that if they had a nuclear capability ready to test or deploy we would know about it. On the other hand, if they were planning a massive cyber attack there would be no clue until it started. But, on the other hand with the bozos we have in power if they were aware that Iran had a testable or deployable nuclear capability they would probably invite them to tea using the internet no doubt to send an e-mail. Hmm. That could open the door for a massive cyber attack.

Maybe they are merely planning to do a drive by of the white house and moon everybody...that would indeed be stunning. Having done it myself on maybe more than one occasion I can speak from experience that is indeed stunning - especially to little old ladies...

Even if they do nothing today they have won. They announce they are going to do something and the whole world takes notice. Governments and people live in fear. I am not saying it is an idle threat but the fear and mistrust they create may do more damage then the number of people they kill. Heres hoping it is just another idle threat.
