Where is the media? Accountability?

Post by Username »

Makes me sick. A republican would have been run out of town caught in this same situation but somehow our President can openly report he's broken his pledge to us and get little or no media coverage.

At the House Republican Conference retreat in Baltimore Friday, President Obama admitted that there were "some stray cats and dogs that got in" the health care reform legislation.

As an example, the president said, "We said from the start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people ... 'You want to keep the health insurance you got, you can keep it,' that you're not going to have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision making. And I think that some of the provisions that got snuck in might have violated that pledge."

He said, "We were in the process of eliminating" those provisions.

White House officials did not respond when asked specifically what provisions the president was referring to and how they got added to the bill.

Beck opened his show with this today, he focused more on the phrase "We said from the start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people..." pointing out the mindset of this president and his minions....as for accountability, there will be none. The ends justify the means ...(saul alinsky, once again)

"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families – more than seventy million people – whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year [in 1971]. They cannot be dismissed by labeling them blue collar or hard hat. They will not continue to be relatively passive and slightly challenging. If we fail to communicate with them, if we don't encourage them to form alliances with us, they will move to the right. Maybe they will anyway, but let's not let it happen by default."[2]
