This was the second class I've taken from SEG, the first being their Handgun 101 course a year ago before I owned any firearms. There were about nine students, all familiar with pistols but of varying levels of proficiency.
The instructor, Jay, is an IDPA and USPSA competitor. He was great, and taught us techniques for pieing the corner, rules for cover, shooting more than one target, and shooting while moving forward, backward, left-to-right and right-to-left. We also were given tips on how to practice at home to fine tune our skills. Considering that I'd never done moving and shooting before, I was surprised at how well I did.
This was a heck of a lot of fun. The class was well worth the money, and if they offered an IDPA/USPSA II course I'd take it. When I got home, I ordered a new holster based on class experience and some advice from the instructor. I've also since purchased a new mag holster, because the class taught me the one I had was inadequate. And, of course, I've joined the IDPA. Expect to see me at the local matches at SEG and BRA.
And because Rick allows YouTube videos, some IDPA promos:
