I have to spend several hours in the Charlottesville DMV office in the near future.
I was just there (unarmed) this week to transfer the title on a used minivan I bought.
Two and a half hour wait for a 10 minute transaction.
I don't remember if there was a gun buster sign on the entrance.
The building has a separate exit and I didn't think to go past the entrance to look.
Anyway, can the DMV be legally posted? Or is it required to be?
There is one armed security guard on duty there and well over one hundred people waiting to be served.
I spent a few minutes discussing his carry gun (Glock 19) and I mentioned my current carry gun is a 9mm Stoeger Cougar but I used to carry a 1911.
He smiled and said that he wanted a 1911 but right now his wife had put a moratorium on any more firearm purchases.

Is a VA DMV office a CPZ?

There are no dangerous weapons; there are only dangerous men. - RAH
Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

No civilians are allowed to carry guns in the DMV, per Exec Order 50LT, unless they are hired private security working at a location.

I think Mark is right but the last few times I've been in a couple different DMVs the older signs specifying no open carry were all that I saw.

The fact that there is armed security needed at some DMV locations (often a State Trooper) is just more proof that citizens should be allowed to defend themselves while there.

This whole DMV discussion has me thinking of the scene in Zootopia, when Officer Hopps walks into the DMV....MarcSpaz wrote:Swampman wrote:Armed security at a DMV office?Think about it... the service at DMV is so bad that the employees fear for their lives and need armed security.
My grandfather said, "Always use your head!".
I told him, "I want to pound nails!"
He said, "Best use a hammer instead."
