Treason?
The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
WEST POINT, N.Y. — Declaring "our security is at stake," President Barack Obama ordered an additional 30,000 U.S. troops into the long war in Afghanistan Tuesday night, nearly tripling the force he inherited as commander in chief. He promised an impatient public he would begin bringing units home in 18 months
"After 18 months, our troops will begin to come home," he said flatly.
Is it not treason to tell our enemies how many more troops are coming and for how long. All the enemy has to do is run delaying operations or lay low until we leave.
If the answer is yes, how do we prosecute?

Well, our good president gets a way out. He can only be impeached for high crimes or misdemeanors and it must get a 2/3 vote in the senate. Good luck.

You'd be hard pressed to get Obama Impeached with this Congress.
The House of Reps. acts as the Prosecutor who must bring the President up on
Charges (ie: Impeachment). Then its up to the Senate to convict. According the
Constitution: Article I, Section 3, Clause 6:
The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.
...so it is unlikely such a charge based on the time lines and such the President has drafted
for Afghanistan would even make it beyond a House Committee. Nancy Pelosi won't let her
favorite President be charged with Impeachment. lol

Next year's mid-term elections will tell the tale. If you don't think so, look at Harry Reid's numbers in Nevada. He's getting his butt kicked by a virtual unknown.

You said it brother. Change we can believe in... Reid is doomed. So is Dodd from Connecticut. The Democrats are
in big, big, big trouble come Nov 2010.

I wouldn't expect more than a seat or two to change hands in the Senate. Don't expect Republicans to take over
the Senate for at least another 2-4/years.
As for the House, that is the key. Republicans need 41 Seats to win back control. It takes 218 seats to have a
Majority in the House and Republicans currently hold 177 seats. The Senate is designed to change slowly and the
President is going anywhere til 2012. So if the nation wants change, it needs to election 41 new Republicans in 2010.

I agree. The Right may not get the senate but the house is a definite possibility. But, any gain for us whether it leads to a majority or not is a good thing. Different types of votes require a different ratio to get passed and every little bit helps.
