Trump: Ban Bump Stocks and Binary Triggers

So, Trump told the AG that he wants the AG to draft a rule that would outlaw bump stocks and any other device that would allow a firearm to mimic automatic fire.

Just when I thought this guys was smart enough not to fall for the Left Wing BS, he orders his people to circumvent Congress and the will of the people, banning an inanimate object that has literally been used in one crime ever in the history of the United States.

This is nothing but a feel-good measure that is going to cost private citizens their personal property rights and millions and millions of dollars and lost property and sales. I am epically disappointed.

Me too. I wrote here that although we are generally better, I have lost faith in Trump. After more than 1 year nobody is in jail yet, majority of Obama holdovers are in their places, every day looks like he is dancing around dems giving more and more. Of course dems are keeping the bar high, so I am expecting that we will lose a lot.
Unless something dramatic change, I don't plan to vote for him.

If you follow Martin Armstrong, he is long predicted that America will crash and burn, and split around 2032. So, brace yourself, and be ready to move. Virginia will be on the wrong side.

I think he could have filled the "feel good" bucket by a look into "sensible gun laws & regulations" request and put the burden on them rather than crumble to the pressures of those anti's from the school and Las Vegas shootings.

He is still only at the 'draft' stage so maybe...

Good points dorminWS. I know many people have voiced disappointment with NRA or other pro 2A groups, but this might be a good time to put up a extra $20, $30 or $40 to your favorite pro 2A group to help fight the tide of knee jerk reactions now.

I wouldn’t lose faith in Trump too quickly. Remember not long ago when he played the pro-amnesty Congress critters? Just chill. The teen activists got to watch an assault weapons ban bill voted down in FL. Cold anger and resolve folks. We know the anti gunners playbook. Happens every time.

If anyone ever thinks Hillary, Obama, Comey, etc will ever even be indicted, think again. Ain't gonna happen. Politicians are not subject to the same laws we are, that much should be obvious.

Trump has been playing the left and largely winning. Bump-stocks? Don't feel a desire to have one even as a fun toy. I can learn to make an AR fire that quickly just by practicing. You-tube has plenty of instructional vids. I haven't read "The Art of the Deal", but this may fall in that category.

Marc's suggestion that we start protecting the schools like the Israeli's do is a good one. However, then the left loses their biggest issue to push for total confiscation, so I don't see that happening. The progressive political left will sacrifice everything to get our guns, including our children.

I like Dormin's idea as well. Can't buy a firearm until you are 21, but only if it includes raising the voting age to 21.

Jim, I've owned 2 bump stocks. I understand the feeling. Total novelty. Accuracy is general vicinity at best. Even though all it does is help mimic something we can do without it, and the fact that its a toy/novelty, I feel we can't let the government use EO, bureaucratic agencies or legislators to take a single thing from us.

In my life time I have watched them slowly strip our right, one feature at a time. Pretty soon, there won't be any features left.

Just a thought.

Agreed everyone, and if they raise the age to purchase a firearm, let it be all firearms, voting, and eligibility to serve in our military as well. This from the proud father of an Army Specialist. I hold our military member with the greatest of respect, but if you can't vote, buy a gun, or have a drink, then you should not be considered old enough to make the decision to put your life on the line. I have the greatest respect for every member of our armed forces who are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice if needed to protect our freedoms, but not let some politician take them away.
