Storing Ammo + Batteries In An Ammo Box Together?

Post by ShotgunBlast »

I recently came across a metal 50 cal ammo box and was looking to put a pistol with a few boxes of ammo, a folding knife, multi tool, and a flashlight with a set of extra batteries to sit in my bedroom closet. My "this could be a dumb idea" alarm started going on when I started thinking about mixing batteries and ammo. I just get really cautious when it comes to storing ammo. Is my concern unfounded or is my dumb idea alarm calibrated pretty good? :!:

I like the contents of that ammo box Michael , I have a couple myself. I keep the batteries and ammo in empty prescription bottles. I rotate the batteries every six months with the ones in our smoke detectors . The SD's will beep if the batteries aren't good and this keeps new batteries ready for our flashlights. I've been doing this for at least 10 yrs. with no issue . I also keep fishing line and hooks in them along with a few other necessary survival items.

if you're concerned about batteries touching eachother, leave them in the original shipping/retail packs. Those kept them safe getting them to you after all.
