WHY DID THE CHEROKEE FIGHT WITH THE CONFEDERACY?

WHY DID THE CHEROKEE FIGHT WITH THE CONFEDERACY IN THE CIVIL WAR?

Extremely interesting read; and a subject which is completely new to me. The real injuns among us (like SWMBO who is 1/4 Cherokee) should be particularly interested.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

It is a part of history that is often ignored. Most people don't want to know the truth. They'd much rather believe the PC BS they've been taught. As you might have guessed, it's a subject that matters to me, & a fight I'm involved in to some degree. The more one studies this time period, the more amazing it gets. The facts are often covered up, & ignored. People will lose their mind trying to remove a flag, or be disgusted by the presence of it. People are actively trying to dig up Nathan Bedford Forrest & his family, remove all these monuments etc.... yet, don't want to know anything about all of the crimes against humanity committed upon the Southern people. Remove Lee's statue, a statue honoring a true gentlemen, who opposed slavery btw, yet drool over ol Honest Abe...lol. A Well documented white supremacist..lol.

This is a great article form the Cherokee perspective. My other half has lots of Indian blood as well. Her Grandmother was 50%, & G Grandmother 100%.

Oh, I knew about the yankee war crimes and I see the editing of history every day to make the War Between the States "about slavery".

But I knew absolutely nothing about this move by the Cherokees and other tribes. It is fascinating; and it buttresses the facts that that particular war was also about states' rights and Oppressive and discriminatory taxation and other forms of economic feudalism by the northern manufacturing interests.
