Ruger Charger

Post by Snakester »

I'm always looking for something new and different to shoot . Since we shoot quite a bit I'm looking for something affordable easy for Carol to handle. She shoots all of our.22 Rifles and pistols and does great with all . I have handled several different Chargers and have to say that they seem like it should be a hoot to shoot. I like them too because there are lots of Custom Parts and accessories available. It seems that most 10/22 accessories will fit. I think one of the main reasons The Charger interested me is I already have many Bx Mags . and gazillions of .22LR. So if there's any one with experience with one of these , I would be interested in any info !

I don't have any experience with the charger particularly. I have several 10/22s but the charger to me just seems like a gun trying to fill a niche that isn't there.

From what I'm reading about the Charger, it's just a 10/22 in different attire. Given that, I'd expect it to behave like a 10/22.

I rather like the 10/22's, myself. They're reasonably priced, and you can make them whatever you want. And, the same appears true of the Charger.

As to whether or not they try to fill a non-existent niche, well, lots of products have done that successfully. And, Ruger seems to have been making Chargers for a few years, so I guess folks keep buying them.

Either way, the 10/22 has a good reputation, so I'd be inclined to buy a Charger without a second thought. In fact, I think that it just made my wish list.

I finally got to shoot a Charger yesterday . A friend of mine came to our Range and brought his . It is an older one made before Ruger stopped and reengineered the New version . I have to say it was a lot of fun to shoot. It did take a little getting use to it , but it is very accurate and with a couple dozen loaded 25 rd. Mags. It didn't take long to eat up a brick of LR . His has the black stock with an after market grip and a nice red dot scope. He also has changed the trigger and mag. release lever. I think I am going to find a Take Down with SS barrel and the green laminated stock then add a few goodies .

Sometimes the only purpose a firearm needs to fill is to be fun to shoot.

We shot a friends Charger again yesterday and even though it is a blast to shoot ......I just can ' t justify spending $400 on one. We have 11 -.22's so it isn't like we really need it . Carol said she got an email from Ruger about a SALE on Bx Mags. so I think I will let her handle that and see what she comes up with !
