VA Calls Veterans Mentally Defective, Destroys The Gun Rights of 260K

The VA has been systematically destroying the gun rights of our veterans by reporting them to NICS, the national background system, and having them declared “mentally defective.”

“Our military heroes risked their lives to protect and defend this country and all that we stand for, including our most basic constitutional rights. Now the very agency created to serve them is jeopardizing their Second Amendment rights through an erroneous reading of gun regulations. The VA’s careless approach to our veterans’ constitutional rights is disgraceful.” Senator Charles Grassley R-Iowa

Last December, the VA started reporting thousands of veterans to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check system, which is responsible for determining whether or not a potential gun buyer is legally allowed to own a firearm.

Specifically, they’ve been reporting veterans who have a fiduciary trustee to act on their behalf for legal or financial matters. All veterans with this arrangement are being automatically declared “mentally defective” according to Guns.com, and are having their second amendment rights revoked.

Over the past 4 months alone the VA has reported over 260,000 veterans to the NICS, which now accounts for 99% of all “mentally defective” claims to the database.

Lawmakers have sent a letter to the VA Secretary demanding to show due process in these reports, in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling that guns are a right of the people. Keep in mind that the Social Security Administration has a similar rule that threatens to destroy the gun rights of up to 75,000 seniors.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is an inept, corrupt, bloated bureaucracy. The VA is proof positive that the government should not be involved in the health care business. The incompetence and waste of the VA has led to the deaths of thousands of veterans in recent years.

The abysmal way that they manage the health care of the heroes of our nation is unconscionable. Now the VA is stooping to an all new low.

So our nations bravest and best, once the government has used them up and have no need for them, is stripping away the very rights that they fought and served to protect. Those responsible for this travesty should be declared “Domestic Enemies of the Constitution,” waterboarded, and thrown in a black hole under a prison. What kind of a sick system is this?

My Thoughts:
Glenn Beck warned of this a few years ago, telling vets not to sign the forms that would allow this. Most of us will be subject to this, even though we are not vets. Who knows what is in all the forms we sign to receive medical treatment?
