We got about an inch of snow last night, and the entire nova/dc metro area roadways pretty much shut down. Back-ups for miles, several collisions occurring each minute, ice accumulating quickly...it was ridiculous, and all for 1 inch. VDOT is hit or miss each year, and it's always disconcerting.

No pre-treatment, no salt trucks, no insight on this one.

Yeah, REC is sending out prognostications of outages. The OWB takes two loads of hickory a day in the worst weather. The generator provides power to get the heat into the house. 4x4 will make it down the drive but blowing it hastens the melt. Food and drink, we got some.

McAwful Declares SOE

The Virginia Department of Transportation has 4,000 trucks mobilizing Thursday, pre-treating ahead of the storm and staging along interstates, major roads and in subdivisions. VDOT and the governor say people should stay off the road before and during the storm, to allow crews the space they need to work.

Snowmageddon 2: Return of Snowpocalypse!

Seriously, we had a clipper come through last night. The media called it "the Inch of Doom". It dropped less than an inch and it was almost completely gone by morning. There were over 200 accidents reported in Prince William County allow and millions of dollars in property damage.

No wonder why people around here think 18 to 25 inches is the end of the world. Hardly anyone around here can survive an inch or two! SMH

I am just south of Columbus, OH, today. I'm catching the edge of what's getting y'all are getting. It's 19 degrees outside, my reefer is in heat mode (to warm it back up to 30), and my landing gear is near about froze. I had to fight that landing gear to make it move.

I might end up sitting all day, if snow really starts coming down.
