Places to get reloading supplies

Hi! I'm looking to get into reloading and was wondering the best place to go in the Hampton roads area. I was hoping there was a place that had presses to try out and to get help with which one to go with. As well as a place that sells supplies. Thanks in advance for the advise.

Not sure about local supplies down there.

I do, some times, buy reloading supplies at local gun stores. I probably buy more (primers especially) at gun shows. You've got one in about a week down there so you should go and check out the prices on powder, bullets, primers, etc.

I've bought reloading equipment at gun shows, too. Dies, shell holders, case trimming accessories, etc.

I just ordered some powder from Powder Valley, off the internet. Even with the hazmat fee of about $28 it was cheaper than the gun shows and the local gun stores around Richmond.

I sometimes buy bullets at the local gun stores but I buy most of them off the internet. Lead and coated lead pistol bullets from Missouri Bullet Company. Jacketed hollow points from Precision Delta or Natchez Shooters Supply or Midway USA.

I've bought some brass, just in the last few months, off the internet.

You've got to look for deals and then take advantage of them. Sometimes vendors have an excess and have a quick (and great) sale/deal to reduce inventory. I got 2700 pieces of .40 S&W brass a year or so back for $47 shipped. I recently bought 3000 pieces of .223 brass for $150. Buy it when you see a good deal, don't wait till you need it. Bullets, brass, primers and even powder, will last for years. I've used powder and primers that were over 25 years old (been in my attic).

Get a couple reloading manuals and read through them. Money well spent. Ask questions of people who are more experienced (and you'll find out you'll get differing answers you have to evaluate).

You might try Winfrees Cigarettes & Guns. It's been a few years since I went in there, and I can't recall whether or not they sell that sort of thing, but I do recall the staff being helpful and friendly. If I remember correctly, they're out on 143, somewhere between Newport News and Williamsburg.

Call Bob's Gun Shop in Norfolk. That's the only place I can think of on the Southside.

I use to reload but I haven't in about 20 yrs. I mostly loaded shotgun shells because we shot quite a bit of skeet . I did reload some .45 Colt and .38 sp. I bought at least 90% of my reloading supplies from private individuals that were tired of reloading or had over bought supplies. Sometimes I did reload other caliber loads to sell or trade. This is a great hobby and can save you some $$$ but , is very time consuming.
