TWO action items below on two different issues. (Do not mix up these two issues - they are completely separate. They just happened in a similar timeframe. I noticed that some people were giving comments about Herriing’s recognition issue in the Regulatory Town Hall public comments about McAuliffe’s state-agency gun ban.)

ACTION ITEM FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL HERRING ON LOSS OF RECOGNITION FOR 25 STATES

Attorney General Mark Herring needs to hear from us about losing CHP recognition for half of the United States, affecting 6 million CHP holders!

As Virginians, we are greatly affected, too, as Virginia will lose recognition from nearby states, such as Florida, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and possibly Tennessee, as well as from some other states. And our military stationed here in Virginia will be disproportionally affected.

Let’s ALL give Herring’s office a call AND an email about this issue. Be polite, but firm. Point out that:

* Permit holders from out-of-state have not caused any problems here in Virginia, the loss of recognition will NOT make the public any safer. In fact now millions will be less safe

* Some permit holders carry because of on-going imminent threats to their life, this puts them in particularly grave danger

* In order to serve Virginia’s gun owners, the Attorney General should be looking at states with the intent to expand reciprocity, not contract it

* Virginia is going to lose tourism dollars as 6 million people will now be scratching Virginia off their list of states to visit

* A vast number of military members working in Virginia will not be able to carry for self-defense on their home permits after February 1st

Contact at least one of the people on the list below. If you get a busy, try a different person. If thousands of us contact them, perhaps they will begin to understand the frustration and see the magnitude of what they have done.

ACTION ITEM FOR MCAULIFFE’S STATE-AGENCY GUN BAN

I’ve learned that since there is not a public hearing planned on the state-agency gun ban, we must request one. We need at least 25 people to make the following public comment (if you’ve already made a previous comment on the ban, you can still do this comment). Please use my wording for the comment and subject line:

1) Click on this link:

http://www.townhall.virginia.gov/L/Comm ... ageID=7379

2) Click “Enter a comment”

3) Enter your name and email address where requested

4) Comment Subject/Title: I request a Public Hearing on this regulation

5) Comment:

The Notice of Intended Regulatory Action published in the Virginia Register of Regulations on December 14, 2015, concerning the prohibition of carrying concealed handguns in Executive Branch offices states that a Public Hearing will NOT be held at the proposed regulation stage.

I request that a Public Hearing be held during the proposed regulation stage for the intended regulations prohibiting carrying concealed handguns in Executive Branch offices. Given the state-wide impact, I request that public hearings be scheduled throughout the Commonwealth to allow all to comment without excessive travel cost.
