Candidate for 2015 dumbest anti-gun statement.

Post by AlanM »

This quote can be found in this article about an anti-gun march held on Saturday 12/19/15 in Akron, Ohio because of a man open carrying a rifle a week or so earlier.
Organizer Robert Grow, a Fairlawn resident who has been a gun-control advocate for approximately 10 years, said he believes citizens should only buy guns for hunting. Even those guns should be non-lethal, he said.

"The problem is the law," Grow said. "The problem is that the government is influenced by the gun industry."
I don't know about Mr. Grow, but I prefer my food to be dead and usually cooked BEFORE I try to eat it.
That pre-supposes that something lethal was used on said food at some point in time.

I guess he figures hunters should round up the deer and herd them to a public slaughter house for proper dispatching.

It just occurred to me that Mr. Grow fits in the same group as the woman that said that people shouldn't hunt to put meat on their table. Instead they should buy their meat from a store because that way no animal need be killed.

My first wife once told me to buy canned mushrooms instead of fresh because she was afraid that whoever picked the fresh ones might have harvested poisonous ones (toad stools).
I responded with "Where the H*** do you think the mushrooms in the cans come from?"

I found that most anti-gunners are also Libs. And I found that all anti-gunners who are Libs... reality alludes them, common sense is not so common, and things like facts and freedom "get in the way" of them forcing there ideals on the rest of us.

I am so sick of the phrase "gun violence". There is no such thing as gun violence, only the violence of men. Getting rid of all guns may stop violence perpetrated with guns, but it won't stop violence.

Historians have proven that the murder rate was extremely high in the 1400's and 1500's, for example. In Amsterdam, the murder rate in the 1500's was 47 per 100,000. That is more than 10 times higher than the murder rate in the US today. A study of the university town of Oxford in the 1340's showed an extraordinarily high annual rate of about 110 per 100,000 people. Studies of London in the first half of the 14th century determined a homicide rate of 36 to 52 per 100,000 people per year. Though guns has already been invented by this time, they were almost unheard of and mostly in Asia. Most of the murders recorded in this time where committed with knifes and swords.

Getting rid of gun won't stop murder, period.

Your first wife sounds like my ex.
One time I took her into a seed store on our local farmer's market. Just inside the door was a crate of dirt with roots laying on top. The sign said "Horseradish - 25 cents each". She chuckled and said "Who are they trying to fool. That is like trying to grow tarter sauce".

Heh. When I was 20, I was involved with a 40 year old woman, who had previously been married to a hunter. We were grocery shopping once, when I spotted beef heart. When I suggested it, she responded that it was "gross". I stated that the heart was simply a muscle, and she replied that there was no way that she was eating any muscle of any animal. And, no, she was not a vegetarian.

Same woman, who also prided herself on her housewifery skills, wondered why she felt ill after mopping the floors at work. "Well, what are you using to mop the floors with?", I asked. "Nothing unusual ", she responded. "Just a mixture of bleach and ammonia."

While suggesting "non-lethal hunting" indicates significant cluelessness about hunting, I've read plenty of hogwash and horse apples, about guns, on every gun forum I've visited... including this one!

I expect a certain level of ignorance among those opposed to or inexperienced with guns. What is sadder, is the stupid stuff spouted by supposed aficionados.

He said, "Best use a hammer instead."
