What if decapitation killer had chosen a gun instead?
Imagine how much worse the death toll could have been if the mentally ill man accused in Phoenix of decapitating his wife and pets, had chosen a gun instead of a knife.
In Arizona, that would have been easy for him to do.
Forty-three-year-old Kenneth Dale Wakefield is locked up on $2 million bond after being charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of animal cruelty. Investigators say he murdered Trina Heisch and their two dogs and stashed the bodies in a closet.
