Question about order from VA Arms.........

Post by Bailey960 »

Since I'm newly returned to firearms I thought I'd ask an for an opinion.

Went to Virginia Arms on Monday, was looking for a P239 in .40. They didn't have one but said they could order one - it would be a couple days. Okay, I'm not in a hurry.

As we can see it's been a week which is not a long time.....but...as I mentioned they said a couple days. Why I even ask is because I'm used to orders when they take a deposit, fill out some paperwork (receipt), and off I go - nothing like that, simply wrote my name & number on a piece of paper.

Questions -

1. Is it up to me to contact them? (hate to be a nag - lol)
2. Did they just blow me off? (forget)
3. Normal? Just they way they roll?

I know all about firearm store *sshats & I don't want to be one :hysterical:

(Not bagging on the store, simply looking for procedure insight)
It's just my opinion & worth exactly what you paid for it

Unfortunately, 'a couple days' is up to interpretation depending on who says it. Two days, a week, longer...

Give them a call; chances are the memo was either misplaced or forgotten. You want the pistol, they want a sale.

Yep - lol - which makes me think "why should I chase them, they don't want the sale fine, other folks will take my money" (I've got a local FFL that charges $17 & love taking the $17 & selling me ammo.

VA Arms is awesome. I deal with them all the time. I have never had a customer service issue. If you would like an update, give them a call. Trust me they don't mind.

To answer your questions more directly

They will call you the moment its checked into inventory. They are very good at that. But, can't hurt to call to get an update.

Nope, they are not blowing you off. That's just how they do things... It it works for them for sure.

I noticed a few days could be 3 days or it might be more like 10 days. But seriously. Call if you want to know. And waiting is worth it. Those guys have treated me awesome when there were product problems beyond their control. They are great to deal with.

Va Arms are good folk.
They have helped me out numerous times in the past.
They will not abuse your 'customership'

But, they may have misplaced that piece of paper - so give em a call.

An update -

I gave them a call yesterday. It seems the only person who can open the boxes from orders (check into inventory?) is the owner & he's been on vacation. At least that's what Ryan told me.......so it's likely I'd hear something on Monday when the owner is back.

FWIW - I was just joking about the free enterprise part, it would take a lot more than a simple mistake. I mean eventually I'd go elsewhere but I'm not that much of a PITA customer. :hysterical:

To me this is two different questions.
2. Did they just blow me off? (forget)
Blowing you off means they don't care specifically about you or your order.

Forgetting is different. They may have had good intentions but truly forgot.

I'd call or email them. I've never had any problems with them. They've emailed me the moment they've got stuff in that I was expecting.

I did call them back, see above. Sure as heck not about to call again, if they're that sloppy then they lose the sale.
