WOW! Differences in OLD Sigs versus NEW Sigs

Post by Reverenddel »

SO I went Sig 226 shopping, looked at one that was the OLD WEST GERMAN Sig, the looked at the newst 226.... Stripped them, put the slides, barrels, and frames side-by-side.

The old slides are SOLID, the new ones have "pockets" cut out to reduce weight. The new ones have a wider feeding ramp than the old ones. The new ones have an external extractor, the old one just has a small one. The trigger is solid on the old one, the new one has some weight "gutted" from it. The new one has a picatinny frame.

The old one is a bit heavier, but not by much.

The new one's finish is matte, not blued like the old one.

They're $25 apart....

Still. I like the fit, and finish, and feel of the old West German one... (shrugs) Dunno, just feels "historic" HAHAH

Sometimes "new" means better.

Usually it just means cheaper, so the company can keep up the profits.

I think that I would prefer the older, heavier version, myself.
