Armed (gun - specifically) resistance has the lowest possibility of victim being injured than any other type of self-defense, including following all instructions.

Have a source for that? Love to pull that out in a debate.

Let me find it. I think it was a Bureau of Justice Statistics report.

Very old numbers - 1992. I wonder if there is a current update. I would expect the number and percentages of successful defenses to be significantly higher.

Here's one from '93 but it's not the one I'm looking for:
http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2FBF01064237

One report I just looked at said the rate of gun defense for violent crimes, 2007-2011, is 0.8%.

From Kleck, 2001:
http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcdgeff.html
http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcdg ... vious.html
http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcdgeff_table7.html
Read this table carefully. The crimes (footnote "a.") are defined by the highest classification of crime at time of crime meaning: Robbery is higher than assault, assault is higher than burglary. If you break into a home to commit a felony it is a burglary. If you use force (or threat of force) against a person while taking property it becomes a robbery. Same with assault, if you take some property after assaulting someone it is now a robbery and is covered in the robbery numbers.

"7. CONCLUSIONS
Many police officers advise victims and prospective victims not to resist criminals [some particularly egregious examples are given by Anderson (1991)]. In light of the evidence summarized here, this advice seems dubious. While this advice is undoubtedly sincere, it usually appears to be based on selectively recalled "cop war stories" and similar anecdotal evidence derived informally from small, unrepresentative samples of victims who reported their crimes to police. Since successful incidents of victim resistance are systematically excluded from police attention, the conclusions police officers draw, to the extent they are based only on the experiences of victims with whom they and other police have had professional contact, will inevitably be misleading. As Ziegenhagen and Brosnan commented, "Victims can and do play an active part in the control of crime outcomes regardless of well- intentioned but ill-conceived efforts to encourage victims to limit the range of responses open to them. Victims can, and do, exercise a range of optional responses to robbery far beyond those conceived of by criminal justice professionals" (1985, p. 693)."

The study I mentioned said the same thing that Kleck has found. I can't locate the study online. I do have copies of it in print somewhere around here but I'm not going to try to find them. They were free so I got several copies to leave at my gun club but they are long gone in my garage or storage somewhere.

This has information from August 1, 2011 to present but is ONLY incidents reported to the site.

You guys heard about the DC family that was held hostage in their own house, right? Tortured their son to get them to give the guy money. After the home owner had his assistant drop $40,000 at the house, the criminal waited for the assistant to leave, executed the whole family and left.

Yeah, I heard about that. He also set the house on fire before leaving.

That's precisely why my house is not a gun-free zone.

Alluded to in post three of this thread, yeah it was near Biden's residence. He would have fired a shotgun out on the porch.
