Fort Hood Shooting

Post by eagleye44 »

I would like to say that my heart and best wishes go out to the families who lost loved ones in the Absolutely Evil shooting that took place in Texas Yesterday. It is my sincerest wish that those who were injured make a complete and speedy recovery. The Victims of this atrocity were in the process of getting ready to ship out to fight for our country so in my humble opinion they died and were injured in the line of duty. They have my deepest respect. I salute them.
I am saddened by the fact that this "waste of human skin" survived the incident.

A terrible situation, indeed. Even more unfortunate that the gunman survived. My thoughts and prayers to the families and friends of the victims. God Bless America.

Amen to all but the last sentence. I want some answers, and only the shooter can give them.

I understand. Hopefully the answers we get will be worth it. That is provided we are allowed to extract the information.

I humbly ask "What answers could be given that would be worth the cost here?"...

and i can understand the frustration of deployment, but if you are at this stage, remove yourself, not the innocent ones around you...as they only share your burden and now, many , his fate...

whatever his hell, he has cetainly secured himself a spot...
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

I don't think deployment was this persons only concern.

Before he is hanged, I would prefer to KNOW that this was his idea.

Being a mental health professional, he may have some insights into his behavior.

Why the grunts and not the brass?

The list goes on...

BTW, if he thought his life was in the toilet before, he ain't seen nothin' yet.

It will be interesting to see if he is tried in a military court since not all of his victims were enlisted personnel. Maybe he'll have a military trial and then a civilian trial?.

I'm not buying that he went off the deep end, if he was crazy, - he was crazy like a fox in the henhouse, I'm sure he figured he'd get his clock cleaned instead of coming out out on the short end of the 72V deal...
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and how his spiritual community responds.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and the wounded...
Now is the time for all good men to get off their rusty dustys...

This is an interesting question. The military does fall under double jeapordy to a certain degree, however if he is tried under the UCMJ (a law unto itself not subject to the Constitution) then its possible he can be tried in a civilian trial. Not sure since IANAL.

I obviously think this guy is a scumbag but it seems someone on the Army side screwed up. It looks like they had enough on him to see he was about to crack. My problem is why didnt they take him out of circulation beforehand?

there are an awful lot of questions which will in time be answered. i just don't understand how one can justify pointing a gun at an innocent person and pulling the trigger.

Screw Loose or Terrorism/act of war? I don't know what was going through his mind but looks like could go either way.

http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.a ... &catid=158
Soldiers who witnessed the shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" - an Arabic phrase for "God is great!" - before opening fire, the base commander said Friday.
Hasan was apparently set to deploy soon and had expressed some anger about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At least six months ago, Hasan came to the attention of law enforcement officials because of Internet postings about suicide bombings and other threats, including posts that equated suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save the lives of their comrades.
But my bigest problem is the fact that our men and women in uniform and visitors are disarmed and unable to protect themself simply becouse they happen to be on a millitary base!

I guess it depends which side you're fighting for... Also, the term "innocent" depends upon which side you're fighting for.

As soon as they found those blog posts, they should have seized his computer and if they verified that it was he who posted those comments, they should have immediately started courtmarshal proceedings and removed him from service.

I am currently an active duty MP. I live on post and feel the exact same way. Its extremely frustrating how my states carry permit is useless on post. I understand the difference between state and federal laws but I do feel that a mutual agreement needs to be formed as to allow us sane, law abiding, non terrorist spy soldiers to carry. From what I understand this happened at the rapid deployment facility on Ft Hood, if this is true it was probably full of soldiers carrying assault rifles and sidearms...with NO AMMUNITION!! stupid. Lives could have been saved.

I can name 3 "massacres" (as the MSM calls them) off the top of my head that happened in gun free zones: (1) Fort Hood (2) VA Tech (3) Lusby's restaurant in TX.

That major knew beyond a doubt that the likelihood of anyone being armed was zero. All of these perpetrators know this. When will our so called leaders figure this out. Surely they are not stupid and realize this already. I know for a fact that the 3-star at Hood knows it. Will he speak out or act to make the restrictions tougher.

I recently visited Q-town. To get there you have to traverse Quantico MCB. I stopped at the gate, showed my DOD ID and informed them I had several weapons, several hundred rounds of ammo, mags unloaded and weapons cased. They barely looked at me, waved me through and bid me good day. What if I had been like that major.

Tougher restrictions or laws will not help. I realize I'm preaching to the choir.

Cop killer gun used by the shooter, according to channel 7. If they can't get that right, why believe anything they say.
