Something that is making me want to do this is... talking to Jim (ProShooter), in another thread in the not too distant past, about weak hand unsupported shooting. So, today at the range I was trying to figure out what the best technique would be to practice, and I very rapidly realized that I do not know any proper off-hand techniques.
I fired 35 rounds into this target, weak hand, unsupported. The paper is 15"x18" and the target area is 14"x14". At 7 yards, 3 rounds barely hit the target and my main group was 5"x8". Not too great.
It was kind of comical. At one point my son said the recoil was kicking my arm up to the point where I was aiming at the ceiling. I was shocked at how difficult it is to do.
So, anyone interested in meeting Jim and getting some good training in? I figured it would be good to get a few folks together, especially since I know we have a few new CHP holders. Believe me... I have been shooting for 30 years and I don't know what I need to for improved chances of success in self defense shooting.
I wouldn't call it a club meet and greet since its serious in nature, but it would be pretty awesome to get some VGOF members together for a day... and maybe takeover a small restaurant when its over to socialize.
I personally am leaning toward Saturday, April 18 for the Defensive Handgun I class. Anyone who's interested in some training and some face time with members... take a look at Jim's calendar and see what you think. Hopefully we can get a few folks together.

Here is a picture of those 35 rounds I shot. Not to bad for an old man on his first try. LOL
