Glove box carry without CHP?

Does the law state that it is permitted to secure a firearm in your glove box without a CCP? I have heard differing opinions on this.

I should have prefaced my last question with that I am going to apply for my CCP, but until I have the physical permit in my possession, am I okay to store the firearm in my glovebox?

I'm no lawyer, but Ken Cuccinelli happens to be one, and he wrote an opinion about this when he was the Virginia Attorney General which indicated that it is acceptable for anyone who may lawfully own a firearm to secure said firearm in their glove box or center console.
