On Monday morning the Senate Courts of Justice committee is going to hear 6 pro-gun bills and 12 anti-gun bills.

2. Winchester Public Schools need to hear from us on Delegate Berg's school bill!
************************************************************

The Superintendent of Winchester Public Schools, Dr. Mark Lineburg, has been critical of Delegate Mark Berg's HB 1773, which allows concealed handgun permit holders to carry on K-12 school property after school hours.

We need to get the message out to both Dr. Lineburg and to the Winchester School Board that HB 1773 is an excellent bill, has strong public support, and should be supported by both the School Board and the Supervisor.

Delegate Mark Berg's bill HB 1773 allows a concealed handgun permit holder to carry a concealed handgun on school property after school hours. Concealed handgun permit holders are the most law-abiding group of citizens we have in the Commonwealth. They have been able to have a loaded, concealed handgun while in their vehicle on school property for years now and have done so completely uneventfully.

Allowing permit holders the ability to carry a handgun for self-defense after hours, just like they can carry a handgun virtually everywhere else they go, makes perfect sense and should be supported by Winchester Public Schools.
