I'm with you on this one.

Curious as to what the focus group/supervisor thought of when approving this document, and why it didn't go through more...sane...channels prior to its release.

Altogether a worthless concept, aside from the food donation at year's end.

Then again, it's doubtful that ~30% of parents will even read this in the first place; not because residents in Alabama can't read, more due to....well, nevermind.

They're going to encourage elementary school children to attack an active shooter BY THROWNING CANNED VEGETABLES???!!!?!?!?

GOOD GOD, HOW DAMN STUPID CAN YOU BE AND STILL KNOW HOW TO BREATHE??

These people should be prosecuted for reckless endangerment of a child. What next? send them to play marbles in the street to slow down the semi truck traffic?

I'm wondering who is liable when a kid beams some bully with a 8 oz can and the kid says, I thought he was an intruder.

When parents abdicate their responsibility to educate their children, there shouldn't be a surprise on what the babysitters come up with.

Cans with a pull tab are not permitted on school property as to protect the security of the defensive apparatus.

Well he'll. Next thing hoodlums will be raiding schools to fill their pantries. One less thing they'll have to work for.

The principal has declared that canned vegetables are weapons. The schools have a strict no weapons policy. By her own stupidity, she has banned all canned vegetables from school property.

Now taking bets on how long it'll take for a student to show up to the nurse's office because of a laceration due to someone opening a can.

At first, when I read the tile, I thought they were going to use the cans for target practice... So much stupid that it hurts to read it.

All joking aside, they are going to get kids killed. If there ever is an active shooter situation, instead of running or hiding, which are both great ideas for anyone not able to fight, they are going to have kids facing down a shooter. I can't see this doing anything but putting more children in harms way while giving them a very false sense of security.

Think about this!

"Drive by Del Monte'ing!"

"He took a fruit cup to the 'fruit cup'."

"I gotta can of Le Suer peas, and I'm not afraid to use it."

I can't believe no one has suggested the obvious... that they ditch the corn and bring a can of whoop ___... ;-)
My grandfather said, "Always use your head!".
I told him, "I want to pound nails!"
He said, "Best use a hammer instead."
