Who needs a gun at The Red Lobster

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Thankfully, Red Lobster is not a gun-free zone.

1) Red Lobster is a gun free zone.

2) The customer ran outside to chase the robber, and then fired a warning shot? He's a dumbass.

Damn you gotta be real desperate to rob a Red Lobster. The staff was probably just happy to see someone walk through the door.

Fixed it for you. I've been open carrying in my local Red Lobster for over a year.

This guy is lucky he didn't pull that in VA. He'd be in jail.

If the thief was armed and the customer was going to take action, I wonder why the customer waited so long to do anything. Once the thief left, it was pretty much over. Don't get me wrong... there is nothing wrong with not taking action. Either fear or evaluation of the situation could lead to not doing something. Completely reasonable. But chasing the criminal outside after the fact seems stupid.

You're quite correct. It was stupid of the guy to fire a warning shot.
If the perp was carrying the cash register he didn't have control of his weapon so the customer with the gun could have performed a citizens arrest without putting himself in danger. (felony in progress)
I suspect that the restaurant needs to buy a new cash register and learn how to bolt them down.
Although it does tend to slow people down trying to run carrying a cash register.

the hero needs to be charged with firing his weapon in a dangerous manner. He's lucky no one got hit (or did they, and no one made the connection) with his warning shot

Didn't need it fixed. Red Lobster is a gun free zone. Perhaps your restaurant's staff just isn't following their own corporate policy - http://www.vcdl.org/node/203

Thank you for your interest in Red Lobster; it is always a pleasure to hear from our guests.

Red Lobster does not permit weapons of any kind in our restaurants, whether unconcealed or not. This policy is in effect for the safety and comfort of our guests and employees.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact us.

That link is almost exactly two years old.
More current information indicates that Red Lobster's policy is to follow state law which in most cases means that firearms are allowed.
Always remember rule #1 with respect to gun rights: Don't ask questions you don't want answered in conflict with your rights.
A spokesperson (not upper management) will almost always say no to a leading question about the carrying of firearms by customers.
Also, most employees assume that company policy concerning employees is the same for customers.

I stand corrected. Good to see they changed their stance. Funny though how they say that their approach "has always been" when clearly it wasn't. Another battle won!

I'll have to mention to PVC to get the VCDL page updated.

YEP! Nah gun free anymore! After reading an article on here, took the girlfriend to R/L, and open carried. The waitress's only comment? "Guess you won't be having the bar today, what can I get for you honey?"

AWESOME!

Back to the jackwagon who robbed the R/L... if the thief had already left, and no one was in danger, why did the armed guy go after him? Specifically, if you have to give a warning shot, you're NOT in danger!

Unless it's a direct threat to yourself, or confirmed other, you cannot use deadly force. Correct?
