Canadian Mayor's Letter to Muslims
I don't care if it's true or not, as far as I'm concerned, it's true and I applaud the Mayor.
Quote:
> MAYOR REFUSES TO REMOVE PORK FROM SCHOOL CANTEEN-
MENU... EXPLAINS WHY
Muslim parents demanded the abolition of pork in all the school canteens of a Montreal suburb.
The mayor of the Montreal suburb of Dorval, has refused, and the town clerk sent a note to all parents to explain why...
“Muslims must understand that they have to adapt to Canada and Quebec, its customs, its traditions, its way of life, because that's where they chose to immigrate. “They must understand that they have to integrate and learn to live in Quebec.
“They must understand that it is for them to change their lifestyle, not the Canadians who so generously welcomed them.
“They must understand that Canadians are neither racist nor xenophobic, they accepted many immigrants before Muslims ( whereas the reverse is not true, in that Muslim states do not accept non-Muslim immigrants).
“That no more than other nations, Canadians are not willing to give up their identity, their culture. “And if Canada is a land of welcome, it's not the Mayor of Dorval who welcomes foreigners, but the Canadian-Quebecois people as a whole.
“Finally, they must understand that in Canada (Quebec) with its
Judeo-Christian roots, Christmas trees, churches and religious festivals, religion must remain in the private domain.
The municipality of Dorval was right to refuse any concessions to Islam and Sharia. “For Muslims who disagree with secularism and do not feel comfortable in Canada, there are 57 beautiful Muslim countries in the world, most of them under-populated and ready to receive them with open halal arms in accordance
with Shariah.
“If you left your country for Canada, and not for other Muslim countries, it is because you have considered that life is better in Canada than elsewhere. “Ask yourself the question, just once, “Why is it better here in Canada than where you come from?”
“A canteen with pork is part of the answer.”

Never could understand why people leave a country they don't like, then try to change the country they immigrated to into the country they left. Makes no sense.
No Exceptions.

HEY!!!
Be nice. Not all of us are bad.
Actually I was born and raised in Washington State back when it leaned right.
It took until after my first daughter was born for her Alabama native grandfather to admit that "Damn Yankee" (at least in reference to me) was two words.

I have never understood why anyone would leave some place for another then try to recreate the same crap they left. Many come to Virginia with the same idea in mind, that we must accomodate, conform to them. Boy do they get a rude awakening when they run across me.

AMEN! I love a "Come'here"! Accept them, embrace them, teach them the culture...
but a Transplant, or Carpetbagger might get SOUTHERN Politeness, but not hospitality. I have no desire to make someone comfortable, when their desire is to make me UNCOMFORTABLE!
Blunlty. Hate them, want them all to leave, take your culture with you... Go away.

Re: Canadian Mayor's Letter to Muslims
I REALLY hate to burst th bubble of everyone who has read this post but the story that is referenced in the title and original post is FALSE. Not only that, it is an exact copy, with the location changed, of the original hoax.
Here's the article about it on Snopes: Belgians Don't Waffle
FROM SNOPES:
What caused me to do a web search is that the OP didn't have a link to a media outlet story.

Look familiar???PORK IN SCHOOL CANTEENS
A REAL MAYOR WHO REFUSES TO REMOVE PORK FROM THE SCHOOL CANTEENS EXPLAINS WHY
Muslim parents demanded the abolition of pork in all the school canteens of Ath in Belgium.
Marc Duvivier the mayor of Ath, has refused, and the town clerk sent a note to all parents to explain why.
"Muslims must understand that they have to adapt to Belgium, its customs, its traditions, its way of life, because that's where they chose to immigrate.
They must understand that they have to integrate and learn to live in Belgium.
They must understand that it is for them to change their lifestyle, not the Belgians who so generously welcomed them.

FROM SNOPES:
This is a perfect example of rumors that we wish were true but aren't.Origins: In May 2013, e-mails began to circulate that claimed the mayor of
the town of Ath in Belgium had refused to honor the wishes of Muslim parents who were demanding that school canteens (cafeterias) be made free of pork in order to comply with their religious beliefs.
The missive alleged that Mayor Marc Duvivier adamantly refused to remove pork products from school menus, and that he had issued the statement reproduced above in response to the request. The "pork in canteens in Belgium" e-mail regained traction in September 2014 and resumed its spread through inboxes and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

That being said, I must also state that I thoroughly AGREE with the sentiments of the rumor's author, whoever he is/was, and many of the posters here.

Rallying around hoaxes hurts the cause. It makes those who swallow the bait look like the wingnuts that the libtards point at to smear us all. Promoting falsehoods is the Left's only activity. Let us be demonstrate the difference by consistently insisting on truth.

Re: Canadian Mayor's Letter to Muslims
I knew the story sounded familiar when I first read the post. It may have been posted here a few months back; one of Dorms unvetted emails, maybe?
I like the sentiment, and I wish that one of our representatives on the state or federal level would gather the nerve to say such as that.
While I agree with Bob - we really shouldn't rally around a hoax ( for precisely the reasons that Bob stated), I think that this thing is still worth sharing. It just needs a disclaimer; ie "The following is a fictitious letter that's been circulating through emails and forum posts. While the letter is a hoax, the content is worth considering. "
Perhaps we could edit a few key specifics, and send it to our own representatives, as an example of something that we want to hear from them.
