What will my next Ruger Mark be?

Post by Dooga »

I had a Ruger 6 7/8" tapered barreled MkIII and sold it. Regrets. I am considering getting a new MkIII Target. The bull barreled blued version with the rail. Tell me about it. Is it a tack-driver? Worthy of picking up? Are there any others that beat it out of the box? How bad was my decision to sell my eponymous 678? PS: I fully intend to install lots of smashing Volquartsen accurizing bits. Or something/someone else? Maybe hold out for a MkI or MkIII bull? Is there a threaded bull barreled Ruger Mark that's blued steel and from the factory like that that I should hunt down?

I have a Mk III target that I use for bullseye matches. I shot irons for a while, but the added Ultradot makes all the difference. The only complaint that I have is that it's a bit on the heavy side.

Only you can decide what floats your boat, or lifts your skirt, or [insert metaphor of choice].

As you already know, Mark IIIs need the hammer bushing and that awful mag safety replaced.

Whatever you do... if you get a MK III? Go to TandemKross, and get the package that REMOVES the mag disconnect, and the load chamber indicator....

takes mere minutes to replace the parts, and makes it a BETTER weapon (IE: A MKII !)

Did this for a 22/45, and that thing is just an instinct point, and shoot weapon.

I did that to my last Mk III. It's easy and super good.
