MS-13 on CNU Campus?

Post by KaosDad »

Momma Bear and I just got an emotional call from Girl Child. She is a third year student at Christopher Newport University in Newport News. Now, we LOVE CNU. Tribble has done a good job of controlling growth and the instructors actually seem to be into teaching rather then preaching.

However . . .

It appears that MS-13 *may* have moved onto campus. Girl Child reports gang style graffiti, cars full of guys just cruising along with the volume up to 11, and non-students just hanging around in the darker places. None of this was happening last year. The worst thing is that CNU has communicated NONE of this.

Yes, we know what this is; the result of an advertised "Victim Rich Zone."

KaosDad is temped to take a week's leave and OC the AR around campus, but that would be a short walk with a long sentence.

That's a shame! Surprised the other local gang elements would allow MS13 to operate.

Give CNU PD a call tomorrow and ask to speak to a Captain. Voice your concerns and see what they have to say. I just checked their crime log, I see one incident of graffiti but the rest looks like a normal college campus. http://cnu.edu/police/pdfs/crimelog.pdf.

KaosDad - my youngest graduated from CNU this past May. While i have slightly differing views of Paul Tribble, I do agree he has done a good job of putting CNU on the map.

My daughter has thankfully not been subjected to the same observations as your daughter has. Wonder if you have signed up for the campus alert system? Any crime reported on campus, as well as general campus-wide alerts, are sent to your phone as a text message. It kept us somewhat informed of the serious happenings on campus.

Your child has one more year, hopefully, to finish her education and escape the growing threat. The best thing you can do for her is to remain a free man in case a real need arises. Keep the faith brother, and tell your daughter to be safe and maintain situational awareness.

Anyone have any objections to a temporary suspension of Posse Commitatus and let the SEALS at Little Creek work their wonderous magic on the local gang population?

How many Hispanics are in Newport news locally, relative to a year ago, or 5 years ago? I say that because the local Su-13, or most other gang, activity here has been directly proportional to Hispanic populations, basically nothing a few years ago to at least visible levels, tagging and what not. Regardless, whether or not any such group moved onto campus is somewhat irrelevant. Usually takes a while for appreciable presence to manifest in serious crimes, if its just Mexicans in cars with loud music and graffiti then it's yet to become a serious threat. In either case the danger would be significantly greater off-campus, less eyes more confusion, take note of that. CNU, as most schools would, may be trying to uphold an image of a safe place, whether or not it's true.

It's okay, the Campus is a gun free zone... everyone will be fine.

If I were President, now that we are in the post-Constitutional age, I would issue an Executive Order allowing criminal gangs to be used as targets in live-fire training exercises by police and military.

I would also, in a mirror-image of Zero's policy, say that the US DOJ will not prosecute any locally-organized citizen groups for patrolling the border and repelling illegals by any means necessary.

Third, I would tell the "Presidents" (so-called) of the Latin American countries that if they would abandon socialism and corruption their people would not be to eager to emigrate to the US.

Fourth, I would have arrested and tried for treason any Muslim imams who recruited for terrorist groups or preached violence against the people of the United States.

I am very sorry. Not that I think it will do any good, but I think I would give a call to the powers that be and let them know of your concerns. After all they don't need bad press and it is the parents that are often paying for the education.
