Should I buy this rifle or not?

Post by Mindflayer »

I found a great price on the Tavor SAR Flattop B16. I've been craving this rifle since I first heard about it, and after I got to shoulder one and run it (dry, no shooting, sadly), I got the itch. Now that it is several hundred dollars cheaper, my purchase trigger finger needs scratching.

Now, my wife is somewhat alright with it, but she doesn't quite get why I "need" another rifle in 5.56 when I have an AR. I can afford the rifle - and I just got a bonus at work - and am selling a few safe queens that shouldn't be. The question is, do I buy now, when the price is good, and before another panic/price hike? Do I wait until I fully fund it out of other sales? Put another way, is it better to ask for forgiveness when I've covered in powder and range dust?

Just to throw up some porn with the poll....

Brotha, ALWAYS buy when the price is LOW!

I've regretted more guns that I HAVEN'T bought, than the ones I HAVE bought!

I have seen the prices be pretty stable at $1699. If I saw one cheaper I would jump on it. A couple of my friends got them recently and they love them. I wouldn't expect prices to increase anytime soon, but when I put things off and try to be responsible, they usually don't get done. When I buy things impulsively, it might make things difficult for a week or two, but I always make it through.

Buy it. If you don't like it, give it to me :)

well if it was me.. I'd do it..
I was never a AR fan, shot and handled a few here and there, but it was never on the top of the list to buy.. after a while even a friend of mine convinced me to get one, he build his from parts kits and it wasn't to expensive .. I thought why not..
Then SH happened.. the prices went through the roof( both the gun and ammo) well that end that..
Until a heard about the Tavor.. after reading a few things about it.. and getting to handle and shoot one.. Yeah it went on the list.. even at the time of just over $2000..
at $1700 its even better..

ohh :lovegunporn: ;)
btw is anyone else getting the pictures clipped?

Bullpups are nice if you want something compact, but I think they've been replaced by an AR pistol and get one of those SIG braces at a lower price point.

The nice part about a bullpup is CQB, and no sacrificing of accuracy. You can take a bullpup put a 16' BBl on it, and as long as it meets overall length, you're okay. You SBR it? You only drop 2" off the bbl, put it RIGHT up on the stock, and that is a COMPACT PUPPY!

Why you debating Mindflayer? The only question should be, "What color would I like?"

If you like this rifle, I suggest you absolutely, positively DO NOT pickup, shoulder, or otherwise handle the new Beretta ARX-160. I too thought I wanted the afore mentioned beautiful Tavor until I fondled this beauty... beware!!!

I sold a firearm. (It was just sitting in the safe, and never fired. That's a slot that could be used for a working gun!) I have another SPF...

I might have gotten the email with my bonus in it. I might have watched too many videos on the Military Arms Channel and Hickok45 (and I have seen that one with Nutn'.) I also might have an Israeli buddy coming to the USA that might give me some free training.

I might have ordered the rifle. I might have told the wife I was pretty sure the second was selling.

I might be deciding which optic to mount now....

(I wish you could get it in A-TACS AU:

Oh, the kicker was you saying no sense in waiting for something else to drive prices up. Sure, I know, prices may come down, but by then I could have fired thousands of rounds. :)

Just curious, was there any expectation that anyone on this forum would have advised you AGAINST a firearm purchase? Perhaps, suggested that you have enough, or even too many, guns as it is? Lol.
