Hi. My name is Tom, and I'm a gunaholic.
Well that does it for step 1!
I grew up hunting and fishing with my Dad, 3 brothers, and 1 of my 3 sisters (the other two preferred to remain girly-girls).
My Dad taught us to respect guns at a young age while reinforcing the utlitiarian aspects of gun ownership, and the need to maintain our right to bear arms for the protection and preservation of our God-given freedom and liberty.
We were all deer hunting by the time we were 12, and by age 15 we each graduated to our own deer stand and got my Dad's then-current shotgun as a Christmas gift. Looking back I realize that it was also a great ploy to get my Mom to let him buy a new shotgun for himself every couple of years!
My Dad passed on a few years back and I still feel him with me every time I am out in the woods hunting. Every now and them I break out the old Mossberg or Marlin 30-30 he gave me and take it afield to relive those great days I had hunting with him.
Anyway, these days I am nearing retirement and decided I'm just not ready to quit yet, so I got my FFL and started a firearms business working from my home and online. I established Lost Corner Guns in 2011 offering transfer services and light gunsmithing (scope mounting & boresighting, cleaning, and mechanical work that doesn't require machining). I thought it would be a way to make a little retirement income while helping my fellow gun enthusiasts get access to firearms from around the country, and I quickly came to realize that transfer dealers are in much higher demand than I realized. I then started a really basic online store to reference some auctions I was running and my part-time business became near full-time after just a few months. I did say I wasn't ready to quit, and I am a admitted gunaholic, so I decided to go with it and 3 years later we are still in business and having fun.
Once I get a little more acquainted with the group here I will put up some postings in the Marketplace and see how it goes. We are starting to accept trades but I am pretty picky about it - the last thing I want is to inherit a problem firearm and unknowingly pass it on to one of my customers. I am also looking to partner up with some other small business folks with sporting products to see if we can all benefit by bringing home-grown products to the market. I have been talking to Taggure about making some custom pistol grips and hunting knives, and I have a buddy out in New Mexico who does custom leatherwork (pics available on request). I hope to bring some firearms with beatiful custom grips and holsters to the local area this year. In the meantime feel free to contact me if you are looking for anything.
I look forward to chatting wiht you all about one of my favorite topics (that would be guns of course)!
Thanks for having me!
