SKS - need help!

Post by TheGodfather »

Recently, I bought a new stock for my SKS.

When I tried to install it, I hit a snag that I can't seem to get around. (Forgive my lack of knowledge when it comes to gun terminology.) The new stock can't fit right because of the cap on the end of the gun, see pictures. How can I fix this or is there someone near Reston that knows how to fix this?

Hi Ben, What exactly is that on the back of the receiver cover? I have not seen that before.

It looks like it should fit under the stock first before the front goes in.

As you can see in this picture, the back of the stock is not hollow.

Also, I unscrewed the cap for you to see.

After looking at your pics I would have to say that your "scope mount" receiver cover is not compatible with your aftermarket stock. You might have to put the factory one back on.

That must be a part of the aftermarket scope mount to help it hold it's zero. Time to break out the hacksaw and Dremmel tool. (to the stock!)

Thanks for the feedback! I did just that and it seems to have done the trick.

Ah, too late on my reply.
I did something similar with my aftermarket stock just so I wouldn't have to pull the action every time I wanted to clean the gun.

I elongated the holes in the cheek piece so that it was truly adjustable on that same stock. Made it MUCH more useful!
