As long as they keep it on their sand . . .

We have a new muslim center here in Front Royal, on Rt. 55 just west of town. They held a "Family Day" not too long ago with food, games, and animals. Looked to me like it was a total bust. Not a lot of interest. Let's hope it stays that way.

I have no issues with someone worshiping any way they wish... but to stand by, and say nothing when innocent people are killed, that's not right.

That's why I have issues with organized religion as a whole. Too much doctorine, not enough faith/worship.

Faith should be personal.

It's personal to me. I was raised in the Methodist church and left church in 1974. Got tired of being told how, what, and where. Been back at church for a little more than a year now. Found this great little country church. Any given Sunday we have 20-25 in the pews. Pastor is awesome. Very well read, well spoken and more often than not while he is preaching, I wonder who told him what I did, or what I'm thinking. Only thing I can figure is God must be a stool-pigeon!

Maybe it's not so bad to get them all on the same patch of sand. If we could catch them all at home for a reunion or a victory celebration, we could show them how to make glass.

Faith is personal, but is also for communities. That's why we are instructed to confess our sins to each other, hold each other accountable, hold communion frequently, etc.

However, the concept of community faith does NOT allow for forcing ones beliefs on others.

I've been of the opinion, and I'm sure it's arguable..

God tests you... mainly, when no one else is around, to see the REAL you!

See if you brag about doing something right, or if you go "All the way" to helping someone less.

As I follow one adage, "Do no harm to those weaker, helpless or in despair, even if you gain personally. You reap what you sow."

@Rev- I hadn't given much thought to WHEN God tests you; only that He does. But, I can see the wisdom in that.

Myself, I just assume everything to be a test.

The sentiment embodied in the aphorism that "you reap what you sow." is also at the center of an earthier adage: "The toes you step on today may be attached to the butt you are obliged to kiss tomorrow." To me, it all boils down to a simple rule: "Try to do right." The "test", usually (when there is one), is to know what IS right.

That's just for you Christ-killing Jews, Kreutz. :hysterical: :hysterical:

Seriously, I'm kidding you and LAMPOONING anti-Semitism rather than embracing it. And I wouldn't have done it if you hadn't made similar remarks yourself in the past. All that said, the stoning will no doubt commence presently............... What the hell, it was shaping up to be a boring day.........

Only by blood...and even that is diluted. My branch of the family abandoned Judaism when they got here in the 30's.

That being said the Semitic good looks are rough to breed out I guess, my father would look 100% in place kvetching on a Tel Aviv street corner, and I used to get hounded by the Lubavitchers in Manhattan all the time.

I'm only Jewish when it suits me. :D

Sort of an Hasidic street preacher, I think; fundamentalist Jews who act like a cross between Jehovah's witnesses and freewill Baptist preachers; they want to show you The Way and make you follow it. Right, Kreutz? (Kreutz really enjoys trotting little morsels of his Jewishness out for us. I sort of enjoy it, too.)

Pretty much, you take a pamphlet and the next thing you know you're living in a compound in the Catskills, married to your sister, and clutching a full auto M-16 while waiting on your welfare check.

Happened to cousin Moishe it did. But then again always an odd boy he was.

They also smuggle organs and ecstasy. Mazel tov!

Hey, it's got it's perks.

http://www.john-friend.net/2014/06/stud ... ceive.html
A recent study out of the University of Connecticut discovered that adding religious affiliation to 3200 fake resumes sent to 800 jobs in a 150-mile radius of two major Southern cities hurt the applicants’ chances in all cases except one — Jews.

“Jewish applicants received significantly higher employer preference rates than all other religious treatments,” the research team wrote in their conclusion. “They were more likely to receive an early, exclusive, or solo response from employers, compared with all other religious groups combined.”
