"RIP" Ammo - a new take on hollow points

Original text from here - but their site keeps giving me a 500 error, so here's the article.

They call it the R.I.P. round and with good reason. G2 Research has released a new ammo that is taking the market by storm and has gun owners all over the country trying to find where to pick some up.

As of now, the company is only releasing specifications for their 9mm round and they go a lil’ something like this:

* 16″ Penetration
* Up to 6″ diameter spread
* 96 gr projectile
* 2″ grouping at 25 yrds
* 1265 FPS / 490 Muzzle Energy
* 9 Separate Wound Channels
* Precision Machined
* Solid Copper / Lead Free
* Defeats all known barriers such as sheet metal, sheet rock, windshields, plywood, heavy winter clothing

Reminds me of Black Talon, but these seems to live up to the mythos of such a devastating round. Hopefully they don't get the same press.

We will find out the first time some unfortunate gun owner uses one of these rounds in a self defense situation. Hopefully, he won't have the infamous "Punisher" grips on his handgun.

Would like to see some independent testing using the FBI protocols.

A box of 20 on gun broker is about to go for more than $200.

So, you get 8 shards and a 9mm hole. Nope, not for me.

Yet another high velocity hollow point with gimmicky names. Some one file this next to the sham wow and shake weights.

The medical community will be testifying to congress about chasing down these fragments, and in the process demonizing all gun owners. That's my prognostication and I'm sticking to it.

"RIP" Ammo - a new take on hollow points

I don't see these cycling through very many self loading pistols. They should probably stick with revolver rounds. .357 mag or .38 spl.

If it does live up to the hype, then it'll be pretty darn awesome. It very well could...
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

Science fiction. I seem to dimly remember reading a space opera I picked up while stuck in an airport where the bad guys fired "lattice rounds" that were hollow tubes mage of metal mesh that were so dreadfully devastating it made the even badder guys. This is pretty close to that, it looks like, and may turn out to be about as near being the truth..............

I don't think it is paranoid to note that those splinters are not following the same trajectory after over penetrating. Bystanders would be at risk. This is not a good idea.

I call B.S.! Not to rain on the parade here BUT , Anybody remember the "black rhino" ? It never existed, the "anti s" started it as a set up so they could pass more regulation. I think this is a repeat of the same. my first clue is the co. doesn't do anything else, that's not good business sense. The grooves in the bullets pictured seem to cover the whole bullet, what about "gas seal" ? I could be totally wrong, But I think I smell a rat.

The slug at the base should provide sufficient seal.
