1. Richmond meeting

VCDL will have a membership meeting in the Richmond area on Thursday, January 16th.

Fellowship will begin at 6:30 PM and the meeting will be called to order at 7 PM.

The meeting is being held at:

The Community Room
Martin's grocery store
10250 Staples Mill Road
Glen Allen, VA

We will be discussing the upcoming Lobby Day as well as going over the current gun bills in the General Assembly. We will also be discussing current events dealing with guns.

As with all VCDL membership meetings, it is open to the public. Bring family, friends, co-workers.

2. Action item: end private school gun-free-zones
******************************************

If you are associated with any private K-12 schools, please contact their administration and tell them to get in touch with their Delegate and Senator in support of HB 114, Delegate Mark Cole's bill that allows private K-12 schools to set their own security policies. Under the bill, for example, a private school can authorize all or selected CHP holders to be able to carry concealed on school property - teachers, administration, staff, visiting parents, etc. It would be up to the school who, if anyone, can carry on their property. This is about private property rights.

We need to build up some steam on this bill.

Also have the school administration contact Delegate Mark Cole if they are in support of the bill - his phone number at the General Assembly is 804-698-1088.

Looks like some really good bills and some really bad ones as well are being submitted this year. As usal they are still trying to close down the Private sales with out a background check.
