i heard at the gun show that ammo cans were getting rare. that's to be expected considering everyone is stocking up on ammo these days, they'd need a place to put all of that ammo. one vendor (who by the way was not selling ammo cans) told me the government has decided to destroy old ammo cans and not sell them to the public, which would explain why they've gone up in price. is there any truth to this? i havn't been able to find anything online definitively stating that the government is destroying ammo cans.
any research/help would be appreciated. i think vendors sometimes feed customers a whole bunch of garbage to raise the panic level and get customers to buy stuff.
they were $8 at the chantilly show for 30 cal cans and $12 for 50 cal cans. fat 50s were more expensive, but i didn't ask. there were some cheaper cans, but i think all of those got sold on friday. i remember when they were 3 and 4 bucks each just a couple of years ago. oh, how times have changed...

Re: ammo can shortage?
I had to buy my last batch via mail order. The Sportsman's Guide has 50 cal cans for around $12 for members. The ones I bought look brand new.
The only cans I can find around here still have ammo in them. Since I don't have a need for 50 cal, I passed on them.
