Lynyrd Skynyrd - God and Guns

Post by allingeneral »

I saw this on Huckabee last night.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has a new album out called "God and Guns". Now, I'm not sure how you all feel about Lynyrd Skynyrd, but I tend to like most of their music and I may download a few of these tunes from iTunes or something to check them out. I don;t buy many CDs anymore.

If you're interested in buying the CD, check the following link:

*Shrug* They're alright. I can listen to 'em. I don't own any mainly because I don't think of them when I'm lookin for music. *Shrug* Great name though. Lotsa points for that.

Yep, I got a few of their songs on my iPod and will buy more if I like them. I'm selective about my music and generally dont buy CDs since there's usually only 2-3 songs I really like.

You can always just buy the songs you like for $0.99 each. Lots cheaper unless you can find a used CD shop.

I've never used i-Tunes, but if I'm looking for a song to download I'll usually find it on amazon.com

Whenever I hear someone mention this album, I always seem to remember their anti-gun song "Saturday Night Special"

"Handguns are made for killin', they ain't no good for nothin' else."

Listen closer the next time you hear that song.... for the line that follows

"Why don't we dump all people to the bottom of the sea, before some fool come around and shoot either you or me..."

It's not anti-gun at all, they were actually trying to make the point that guns don't kill people... people kill people.

I'm sure there might be better but I like itunes. Lets you download single songs for .99 and they do have alot of music. They've recently implemented genie software. If you're listening to a song you like genie will recommend others that are similar in style so you can check them out. A great way to find new songs or bands.

You can say that about a lot of songs - there are some that don't fall into the "Just a song" category if you ask me - especially these days. This country started slipping down the slope of liberalism when Elvis Presley was first shown on TV shaking his hips!

True, I don't follow much of the current music. I guess I'm either listening to the classic rock station or my own CD mixes. My musical tastes are all over the road.

But I'm still a 'Skynyrd fan

Yeah and the hip shaking thingy he did was all because of Forest Gump... :hysterical: Our country really started falling apart in the early 60s with the peace/love movement removing prayer from our schools. Bye bye morals and Christian values.

alright heres what that song was about. They were talking about during that time, i can't remember the whole story, but people were importing some cheap made handguns in the USA from south america and the surrounding area. These guns were so cheaply made, when fired they would literally blow up in your face and killed many people.

You can definitely tell that this new CD was produced for airplay on country radio. If you're expecting to hear the original southern rock sound, you'll be surprised.

I think you'll agree that there's nothing anti-gun in track #10 on CD #1
