CORRECTION: What YOU have benefited from in your 55 years of public life, Gen. Powell, IS NOT socialized medicine, but a "Cadillac plan" supplied by an employer; which is exactly what your proposed socialized medicine scheme will destroy forever (and Obamacare is already in the process of destroying).

That's what scares me about these retired military commanders (McCain was another good example): They have these HUGE blind spots because the military insulates them from the real world in lots of ways, but the also have a lifelong habit of being the boss, making snap decisions, and being obeys and not being handed any crap or questions even from people who know better. Not saying they're all like that, but way too many are. I think the basic problem is that the military is nowhere near a business, a market, a democracy, or a free society, and they just lack a comprehensive experience with and perspective of these things.

Colin Powel was a good soldier...that does not make him a good politician or even consistent in his personal philosophy.

He has declared his allegiance the past 8 years. I suggest the GOP, the Tea Party and the Libertarians all write him off to the progressive he has so lovingly embraced.

The Military gave up on that healthcare system if what I'm thing of is what he's referring. It wasn't cost effective compared to private insurance. That's why it was changed.
