Would you respond with deadly force to an attack like this?
Take a look at this video if you haven't seen it already. It's a story on the "knockout game," now being played by punks around the nation. I'd never heard of this, and after watching the video it appears that the element of surprise is half the value of this sucker-punch attack. So, unless you see something happening in your peripheral vision and can react in time, I'm not sure there's much you could do.
That said, if I were being attacked in a situation like this and was able to react, my first instinct would be to respond with deadly force if I was carrying.
I'm curious as to whether other people would feel justified in using a gun in such a circumstance? Why or why not?

Shooting black people assaulting you is a good way to get Zimmerman'd.

So... what? You're just supposed to let yourself be victimized?
Actually, that's a great argument for joining USCCA, isn't it?

Think of it as "atonement for institutional racism" or some such nonsense. May your honky blood wash away the sins of your fathers!UnderwaterMike wrote:So... what? You're just supposed to let yourself be victimized?
Not sure what that is.Actually, that's a great argument for joining USCCA, isn't it?

What else that's a good argument for is vigilance, diligent peripheral surveillance, and a kick-ass stun gun.

U.S. Concealed Carry Association. It's an expensive membership (~$350 a year), but part of the benefit is $1M shooting liability insurance.

Does that $350 include any casualty insurance on your guns?

So... you want to end dead or in a court room? Hmm... not a hard choice.

I don't recall. I get their magazine, but I don't have the money right now to join, so I didn't find out more. You can check it out at https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/membership/.dorminWS wrote:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>UnderwaterMike wrote:U.S. Concealed Carry Association. It wouldn't be deadly but I would cut their balls off because they're obviously too much of pusses to fight me face to face.

But it's a macho thing. You stick to that story bud, cause it's all you have.
Don't see any way to react to something like that. If I have to waste my time watching everyone I pass until they are well past me then I just won't go there. These kids are in Hoboken, Paterson, Jersey City, Newark, etc. Just don't go there. If you do, wear an "I Voted for Obama" t-shirt.

Re: Would you respond with deadly force to an attack like this?
Here's the problem: you'd have to draw and shoot them while being approached with a raised fist, and before contact, or you might be asleep while they loot your sidearm. Then again, what am I thinking, its NJ! Simply put, you'd not likely have time to respond unless you were 100% vigilant and examining the movements of everyone approaching you on the walkway. At that point, you'd be perceived like a nut at best, an aggressor at worse, and at then you'd have a much harder time proving your case.
Again, the case I make is that you should stay away from the rabble of the heavily left of left cities. These are dumb ass teens trying to prove themselves. They aren't dumb, or they'd be doing it here where people do carry guns.
How do we stop it? I have no idea. Maybe take away their parent's welfare?

OC, just saying...
Also, stay the hell away from where thugs are.
In the end, Id rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

Let's add a twist to it. Suppose you were not the victim, but you were a close bystander and saw it happen from the start. Would you draw?

Re: Would you respond with deadly force to an attack like this?
You bet I would. As I said when I posed the question, if the blow comes as it's supposed to, I don't think you can defend. That is, they won't go for it unless you're not paying attention. Likewise, I'd be surprised if it happened with bystanders around. But, if it did, my gun would be out.FiremanBob wrote:Let's add a twist to it.
