1. We have a winner! Results of our drawing for a Glock pistol
******************************************************

The raffle drawing for a Glock 19 pistol was done at last night's VCDL supper meeting at Famous Anthony's in Vinton.

And the winner is….

M. Smith from Rocky Mount, Virginia.

The winning ticket was drawn by a wait staff member and was witnessed by 30 members and guests! Looks like our ranks just swelled by one: the winner was NOT a gun owner until now--but wants to take a concealed carry class shortly!

2. VCDL President to speak at "Open Carry Day" in New Castle on Sat., Nov. 16th
******************************************************

Oh, this is going to be COOL!

They are planning quite an event in New Castle - Open Carry Day!

It is being held on Main Street, Saturday, November 16th, from 10 AM to 3 PM. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

There will be carriage rides, street vendors, etc! I've been honored to be a guest speaker at the event.

If you are free that Saturday, this sounds like the place to be! Imagine, a whole town celebrating our right to keep and bear arms.

**A big turnout to this celebration by gun owners would certainly send a strong message to other towns and cities in Virginia.**

More information can be found on the event's Facebook page:

Mark Walter's Armed American Radio, which has had me on as a guest in the past, is expanding its market in several states. The show is going to be on WLVA on both AM and FM in Lynchburg here in the Old Dominion.

5. Antis pressuring Staples to go anti-gun (YAWN)
******************************************************

Let's NOT repeat what happened with Starbucks. The antis are not that big of deal. If you want to do something, just send Staples an email or call them to thank them for staying out of the gun debate.

From breitbart.com: http://tinyurl.com/qa2qoyb

After their original letter to Staples CEO Ron Sargent fell on deaf ears, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is stepping up their efforts to shame Staples into banning guns in their stores.

As Breitbart News reported on September 26, Moms Demand Action tried to follow up on Starbucks' quasi-ban on open carry of firearms with a plea for Staples to ban guns altogether. But nothing has come of these efforts to date.

Digital Journal reports that Moms Demand Action is now stepping up their efforts. The gun control group has cited how "an accidental shooting in Staples earlier this year demonstrated just how dangerous the presence of guns can be" to call for a store-wide ban.

What Moms Demand Action does not say is that the "accidental shooting" was not a crime--no one in the store was injured other than the gun owner who shot herself in the hand, and the police filed no criminal charges.

Nevertheless, Moms Demand Action remains focused on Staples. They are calling on the office supply retail chain "to immediately" become a gun free zone by "[enacting] a policy to ban guns from all of its stores nationwide."

This demand ignores the danger law-abiding citizens face when placed in a situation where they are required to be disarmed; see Ft. Hood, the Aurora movie theater, and the D.C. Navy Yard. In such gun-free zones, criminals know they face no opposition and no threat of facing a victim who is capable of defending himself or herself.

6. Fairfax Sheriff candidate, Stacey Kincaid, is anti-gun!
******************************************************

If you live in Fairfax County and own, or plan to own, any Class III items, such as a silencer, machine gun, short barreled rifle or shotgun, then Stacey Kincaid is going to be a problem for you if she becomes your sheriff in November. She is ON RECORD supporting bans on so called "assault weapons" and "hi-capacity" magazines. One good example is her statement to the Fairfax Young democrats, available here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G78or8hmeV

Go to about minute 52. If it is hard to hear, here's a transcript of the comments by Captain Stacey Kincaid on July 17, 2013:

"In terms of sub-machine guns and assault weapons and such, and high-capacity magazines, I really don't support that...I don't support that...because if you want to own a gun and keep yourself safe, I'm not sure that you need an arsenal of weapons of that magnitude in order to do so." [PVC: Funny - want to bet that the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office has those very "unneeded" items in THEIR arsenal?]

Bryan Wolfe is her opponent:

www.wolfeforsheriff.com

While I didn't see the Right to Keep and Bear Arms addressed directly on his web site, he does show an NRA logo on his "About Bryan" page. Certainly I saw nothing anti-gun on his site.

Candidates are most receptive to your views PRIOR to the election. So, you should contact Stacey Kincaid at: Kincaidforsheriff@gmail.com and urge her to support YOUR Right to Keep and Bear Arms (RKBA) by retracting her public statements opposing the ownership of certain firearms. Also contact Bryan Wolfe at: http://www.wolfeforsheriff.com/contact/ and urge him to take a strong public stand in support of your RKBA.
