Just came back from the Walmart on Rt. 10 near Chesterfield.
.223 ammo bigtime, 4 shelves of 150 round boxes of American Eagle 62 grain ammo. About $70 a box. I left it on the shelf.

Thats still .47 cents a round... a 30 round mag holds about $15 of ammo.
Damn glad I went the X39 route, still expensive but overall cheaper. .22 cents a round shipped to your door via centerfire systems.

I was in that store a couple days ago and all of it was gone.

My local Sportmans Warehouse had X39 ammo, a few THOUSAND rounds on the shelf about a week ago... went by there the other day and there was no trace of it ever existing!
Luckily there are a few sources via internet that have ammo in stock, reasonable priced and free shipping.
IN STOCK I think is the key words.
Ammo is showing back up, but not a steady resupply... quite yet.

Rt. 10 and elsewhere, I'm seeing steel ammo cans of 223/5.56.
Last week, it was $498.00 for 720 rds.
It's still on the shelves at $458.00, alongside 420 rds cans for $198.98 in striper clips.
And I thought I was throwing money away some years back at $175.00 per 1000 rds.
Setting the Lee Pro1000 back up.

From my earlier post which I can't edit. I found the same cans correctly lined up with the correct prices on them. The one for $498. is actually 1,200 rds of 9mm.

Is that 150 round box of American Eagle steel core? I can currently shoot that where I'm at now, but it looks like a lot of ranges don't allow the steel core.

Federal American Eagle 62gr .223 only comes in soft tip. The steel core is only in 5.56.

Thanks for your quick reply, MarcSpaz. I have a box of that at home and was wondering. I hadn't taken a magnet to it, but didn't want to bring it to a range that doesn't allow steel core. I appreciate it.

You're welcome! The RSO's get a bit touchy when we put holes in the traps for sure. Definitely want to avoid that.
Happy shooting.
