My wife and I got rear ended last night on Route 1. We are both okay and the the other driver was okay as well. Well, needless to say we called 911 and waited for the Trooper to arrive. Initially, A spotsy sheriff's deputy stopped and made sure everyone was well and not in need of medical attention. I mentioned to the Deputy that I had my gun on me and he asked where it was. He said well just leave it in the holster. He was very professional about it and didn't get excited. He told us what we would need to show to the State Trooper when he/she arrived. When the State Trooper arrived, I handed him my License, proof of insurance, registration, and my CCW permit. I know Virginia isn't a "must Inform" state, but I thought it prudent to give him my permit anyway. To make this a shorter story, he never once asked if I was carrying. He carried on with the business at hand and got the job done.
I would also like to mention that the other driver was a US Marine and was very courteous and professional in the way he interacted with me and my wife. Not once did either of us make accusations or even act angry. Auto accidents can be stressful and not a pleasant experience. But in this case, there was a minimal amount of stress and it wasn't an altogether bad experience.
In the end, I thanked the Young man and his Corporal, who had arrived shortly after the accident, for their service to our country and they thanked me for mine. I was proud of this young Marine and the way he handled himself.
As for me? I MISS MY TRUCK!!!!!!!

Let us speak courteously, deal fairly, and keep ourselves armed and ready.
