I was planning on getting my own reloading setup but re loaders are on back-order till October
9mm, 40, 45 and 223 bullets are non existent, Primers and Powder are even harder to find.
So whats the solution ???

Castboolits.gunloads.com has a special swaging subforum if anyone wants to learn more about it. It's a lost art. There is also a guy there that makes swaging dies on the side and has excellent reviews. Think his username is something like BTsniper or something like that.

After you read the first one you'll want the rest in your library. Hillbilly prepper manuals!

A few months ago when everyone was over at the gun shelves fighting over the scraps the brown truck was already dropping off 24 months of reloading supplies.
Now is a BAD time to try to get into reloading. My guess is ammo will be constrained until fall. Reloading components should start to be back in good supply by late winter.

@Palladin: +1 on Foxfire. All kinds of spiffy info in those books, even if they were put together by a hippie college professor.
As to aquiring gun powder, you can still buy firecrackers. Never tried it, don't know anyone who has (to my knowledge). But, I reckon that I'd give it a shot, were I in dire need.

Remind me never to stand near you, when you are in dire need.SHMIV wrote: As to aquiring gun powder, you can still buy firecrackers. Never tried it, don't know anyone who has (to my knowledge). But, I reckon that I'd give it a shot, were I in dire need.
The other shooting opportunity thats available... black powder/muzzle loading. Generally those supplies are always available. Making your own powder is simple, you can buy simple casting setup and make your own projectiles.
Last panic I got back into muzzleloading revolvers. Fun hobby, and you take alot more care with your shots as the reload time is a bit slow.

That could be courting disaster. You'd have to know your components, There's a big difference between things that burn fast and things that detonate.SHMIV wrote:@Palladin: +1 on Foxfire. All kinds of spiffy info in those books, even if they were put together by a hippie college professor.
