"We discovered hundreds of handguns, rifles, and shotguns not accounted for on the official USPP inventory. As recently as April 2013, two automatic rifles were discovered during a firearms search for which USPP had no prior knowledge."
Teresa Chambers, where are they?

Re: Teresa Chambers, where are they?
I think they should have an independent, civilian volunteer force, badged to carry on Federal property, with one fully automatic rifle issued, to do snap inspections.
And I volunteer.
And I volunteer.

Re: Teresa Chambers, where are they?
"An anonymous complaint led the Office of Inspector General (OIG) to investigate the management and supervision of the U.S. Park Police (USPP) firearms program. Simultaneous, unannounced inspections of unassigned weapons at USPP facilities revealed that USPP could not account for Government-issued military-style rifles."
...............................................................
WHAT THE HECK DOES THE USPP NEED WITH MILITARY-STYLE RIFLES TO BEGIN WITH? DOES THAT MEAN FULLY AUTOMATIC SELECT-FIRE WEAPONS? THEY GOT SHOOT-TO-KILL ORDERS ON PEOPLE WHO FEED THE BEARS?
...............................................................
"It also showed that its weapons inventory was incomplete. Incomplete weapons inventories undermine USPP accountability for all of its weapons, and allow for the possibility that weapons that cannot be located and may not be in safe keeping."
...............................................................
THEY DON'T SIGN FOR THEIR WEAPON UPON ISSUE? IF THEY DID, ACCOUNTABILITY OUGHT TO BE PRETTY SIMPLE. IF THEY DON'T SIGN FOR THEM, FIRE EVERY BOSS THAT EVER LET THAT HAPPEN. OBVIOUSLY, THE BUREAUCRATS HAVE CRAFTED A NO-ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS THEM TO HAVE FREE GUNS. SWEET DEAL IF YOU CAN GET IT.
...............................................................
" During our site visits and subsequent interviews with key USPP firearms program personnel, OIG identified systemic internal control weaknesses. Our review revealed that USPP had no proper accounting for hundreds of weapons. We discovered hundreds of handguns, rifles, and shotguns not accounted for on the official USPP inventory. As recently as April 2013, two automatic rifles were discovered during a firearms search for which USPP had no prior knowledge."
............................................
THERE IT IS AGAIN, "AUTOMATIC" RIFLES. DOES RANGER SMITH REALLY NEED THAT KIND OF MUSCLE TO KEEP YOGI AND BOO-BOO OUT OF THE PICNIC BASKETS, OR DOES THE AUDITOR NOT KNOW AN AUTOMATIC FROM A SEMIAUTOMATIC?
"We also found that individuals appointed to oversee the program, including senior command officers, gave only minimal supervision to officers and other program staff who had access to unassigned weapons. This report, following our earlier reviews in 2008 and 2009, underscores a theme of inaction and indifference by USPP leadership and a lackadaisical attitude toward firearms management. We provided 10 recommendations to improve firearms management and accountability throughout USPP. "
...........................................
NO WONDER THE FEDS DON'T TRUST US CITIZEN-TAXPAYERS WITH GUNS. THEY KNOW DAMNED WELL THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED WITH THEM; AND THEY THINK THAT AS PART OF THE ANNOINTED RULING CLASS, THEY MUST SURELY BE SMARTER AND BETTER QUALIFIED TO LOOK AFTER US THAN WE ARE.
IF THE MANAGEMENT WON'T FIX THE SYSTEM, THEY'RE PROBABLY STEALING GUNS RIGHT ALONG WITH THE HELP.
OF COURSE, THE BEST WAY TO FIX THIS WOULD BE TO TRANFER THE USPP TO THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT, WHERE OPERATING LIKE THAT IS APPARENTLY POLICY APPROVED BY THE AG HIMSELF.

Also, Chambers was recently ordered reinstated after having been fired in 2003. Good thing the lawyers got us this paragon of law enforcement management back, huh?

Imagine if your local gun shop lost hundreds of firearms. How long would it take ATF to pull their license and shut them down?

They know damn well where they put those guns. They're all in somebody's personal gun cabinet. Dammit. If the damned gub'mint is gonna give away guns, they should give them to ME!

Maybe Yogi Bear ate the logbook. ...or maybe those weapons are in a pic-a-nic basket as a gift for our neighbors to the south.

Time to tear all the government agencies down to the roots and rebuild only the needed ones back to reality....
