Looking For a Holster - Advice Requested

Normally I would not put up a thread about holsters, but I need some real-world feedback. I have purchased several holsters over the past 2 years and I am not too happy with my IWB selections.

So, I am looking for an IWB holster similar in design the Crossbreed Super Tuck and Galco King Tuck. I think I am going to go with the King Tuck, but here is a quick overview of my concerns and why I am looking for some guidance.

I currently have a Sig P226 in a 40 S&W as my carry pistol. I use an IWB holster that is a traditional pouch style. I am a pretty heavy guy and the dove tail as well as the slide release and the de-cocking lever rub my side. During the winter this isn't an issue because I wear a t-shirt and that provides relief from the rubbing. Now that its warm and I am wearing a single un-tucked shirt, the skin on my hip gets red and irritated.

I am thinking about going with the Galco King Tuck because it looks like the leather backing will come up high enough to protect my skin and displace the weight across the waist band a bit better.

Are there any "big guys" who have over come this issue? I would assume that this could be a problem for anyone... so even if you are not a big guy, but have worked around this problem, I would love to here from you too.

I'm a big guy and I have been carrying a Glock 23 in a Rocketman Holsterworks IWB for over 10 years. I can slip the holster on and almost forget that I'm wearing it.

I have been wearing my IWB ThinkFast kydex holster (YoungGunVA on this forum) since November and it just feels natural. I wear untucked shirts every day and don't like holsters against my skin either so I either wear a tucked in t-shirt if I'm wearing a polo or a tucked in tank top if I'm wearing a t-shirt.

I am a smaller guy, so I too have issues, generally with concealment, but I own a King tuk, and I can wear it all day with a full size 1911. It's comfortable, and conceals very well, I do tend to wear either a tank top, or light t shirt under the outside shirt just for the extra comfort. I have also seen a version, it was another maker that lets you change the kydex holster piece, so you don't have to buy a whole new holster if you decide to change your daily carry piece. Might be worth taking a look at. My other daily is an original Alessi made before he passed, and I really like that one. Not quite as deep cover as the King Tuk, but does the job well, and I find myself using it almost daily.

Im a big guy 260 lbs. I use the N82 tactical. Very comfortable and made here in the us, NC to be exact by two brothers. Another good one is the Blackhawk Serpa concealment holster, comes with paddle and belt loop for two carry options. N82 has almost not print with my sub compact XD-40 but the serpa prints pretty bad but would be fine under a sweatshirt or under a second loose fitting shirt. Serpa has a much faster draw/N82 less print. Just my opinion though. Good luck.

Well, I went around and checked out a few holsters that were in stock at several stores around my house. I found that the closest to what I wanted for the money I wanted to spend was the King Tuck.

The biggest problem I had was that none of them covered the beaver tail... so, like any forward thinking individual, I bought the one that came the highest, being the Galco. Then, I sold my P226 Elite and bought a new P226 that had everything that the Elite had... less the beaver tail. Live is good. Problem solved. LOL
